Sony “Evolving” LittleBigPlanet Moderation

Give the public the opportunity to submit their own created content in some way, be it Youtube videos, Spore creatures or what have you and eventually someone’s going to make something that could be objectionable. LittleBigPlanet has suffered from the same problems. Before the game was even launched, countless webcomics were making jokes about the inevitability of a torrent of levels featuring genitalia of various sizes, mostly gigantic.

Of course Sony wants to avoid any kind of content that would force the game to go up to a higher rating and thus be avoided by many parents and youngsters so from the very beginning it was made clear that any objectionable content would be removed from the servers. There are some levels however that have been disappearing from the servers without much clue as to why. Levels are only deleted after being reporting and according to Sony rep Mark Valledor they’re ‘evolving‘ the moderation process and will eventually be informing level creators of why their levels are being removed.

Sony advises gamers that not only can your level be deleted for objectionable content, violations of intellectual properties (if you mimic an existing game/franchise) are grounds for removal as well.
