Valve Fixes Left 4 Dead Cheats

December 11th, 2008 Posted in Action, Adventure, News, Shooter, Xbox 360 by Will Prusik

Yesterday we reported that some modders had discovered a way to change all sorts of things in the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead. Valve has moved quickly to remedy this in order to keep interest in the zombie blasting title up. They’ve added a fix to the dedicated servers that prevents users from utilizing these cheat alterations when playing online.

For the time being the cheats will still work for those playing on a user-hosted server or via system link, although Valve says they plan on releasing a title update that will disable that as well. While I applaud their quick action in making gaming on dedicated servers fair again I do think it’d be good of them to hold back on that update. Cheat codes and mods can make for an enjoyable experience when used in a fair and even manner. Many gamers have used cheat codes to get themselves past a frustrating dungeon, battle or mission in a game that they otherwise enjoyed.
