Steam November 2008 Survey Results Offer Interesting Insight
Valve has released results of its November PC hardware survey – it is a compilation of statistics taken from users of Steam, the company’s digital delivery service. The last quarter sees some small changes across the board, including the rise of Intel processors, multicore processors, ATI and DX10 graphics cards and the adoption of Windows Vista.
Intel and NVIDIA are used by approximately 65% of users in their respective categories over competitors ATI and AMD. The most common user on Steam runs an Intel processor in the 2.3-2.9GHz range, with 2GB or more RAM and a GeForce 8800.
Quite interestingly, a bit over ¼ of Steam’s users run 16:9 aspect displays, which is quite strange because 16:10 was taken to be the computer display standard up until recently.
