de Blob Sells 700,000 on Wii

adad Who says only big name games sell big? THQ today announced that Blue Tongue’s platformer de Blob has sold over 700,000 units worldwide on the Wii. Originally developed by design students before being purchased by THQ and further developed by Blue Tongue, the game has held its $49.99 price point since its release in September 2008.

The publisher attributes the game’s success due to its high production values ad “Nintendo-esque” quality.

"The competition on the Wii right now is from Nintendo. that’s what we’ve got to attack," said THQ chief Brian Farrell. "The people who buy Nintendo games, [we want to] get them to buy things like de Blob."
