Valve claims Steam makes DRM obsolete

March 24th, 2009 Posted in PC

Right after Microsoft announced new updates to their Games for Windows Live platform, Valve had a few things to say about its own platform, Steam. Valve said in a press release that much of the “new” Games for Windows Live features are already available on Steam, adding that they’re always looking for “new ways to make PC games easier to create and better for customers to experience” on Steam.

Steam is one of the most popular digital distribution game services in the world, ahead of Games for Windows Live and EA’s Link in both market share and technology.

In what way being forced to stick with one company a good plan? Why should this one company have any control over and products I purchased, it’s bad enough that you have to devote resources to run STEAM on games you legally purchase in a store that require you to register with STEAM.
