Battlefield 2 patch 1.5 details

A few months have gone by and EA has released a few more details about the upcoming patch, 1.5 for Battlefield 2.
Features
- Additional support for Windows Vista.
- Added Highway Tampa as a required map.
- Added a new map called Operation Blue Pearl.
Gameplay Tweaks
- Changes made to both the J10 and F35B to make them more balanced. Please note that the J10 is a superior dogfighter to the F35B and as such these two aircraft will never be equally matched.
- AA targeting tweaked to make it more effective.
- Added checks to prevent “runway grieving”.
- Various changes made to prevent cheating.
- Tweaked the hit detection, hits will be more accurate to the model.
EA also mentions that a beta of the patch will be available at the end of this month, but they also promised a beta at the end of November. Then it was December. And so on. Although now it seems that there is work being done on the patch.

It’s not that the patch wasn’t being worked on.
Several things were at play… Economy sure… because that lead to .. What to do with current status of BF3 ( Most likely replaced by PC version of BF:BC2 or pushed back, maybe shelved) – As well, The 2 most important factors were at that time.. 1, the ever present, throughout the DX10 cards…( I know BF2 is not DX10) However, the drivers from both video card GPU manufacturers were not working well with Vista. They were in fact only somewhat better in XP depending on your rig setup. The end all in this DUO is the onslaught of the ever changing commander hacks. and the point system hacks – people playing for 17 minutes and obtaining Colonel and whatnot and 40 thousand humvee’s dropping on your location. and the like. SO many issues were at play but they wanted to make sure they were taking care of some serious cheating issues. BF2 may be old… but it still plays like a top dog and is still fun. AIX 2.0 anyone?
