It has now been 25 years since Russian programmer Alexey Pajitnov made the puzzle game for the Elektronica 60 that we would eventually become addicted to for the next decade or two when it released on the Gameboy. Still to this very day, Tetris is being played on every console worldwide. Different variations of the game have been released, but none compare to the classic.

Even Google is celebrating, with its logo today being constructed entirely of Tetris blocks. Anyways, the game will always have a place for us in our hearts, and we will still continue to play it fifty years down the line.

If you want more of a history lesson on the game’s origins and many legal disputes, check out the Wikipedia article for the game. In case you want to feel some nostalgia, hit the jump for a Flash version of the hit puzzle game.
