Braid coming to PSN?

July 31st, 2009 No Comments   Posted in DLC, PlayStation 3

Back in May we saw Braid dated for a Mac release but have yet to hear anything about it hitting the Playstation 3. Well today, it seems that the Xbox Live Arcade title will be getting a Playstation 3 release after all as it has recently been listed on German’s USK website.

As you can see above, the document clearly states that Hothead Games’ Braid will be made avaialble for Sony’s Playstation 3.

Unfortunately, this is all we have to go by for now, we won’t know an official release date or price point until Sony comes forth and gives us one.

TMNT: Turtles in Time gets price cut before release

July 31st, 2009 2 Comments   Posted in DLC, Microsoft, Xbox 360

TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is less than a week away from hitting the Xbox Live Arcade but already Microsoft has felt the need to cut its price.

Previously priced at 1200 Microsoft Points, TMNT: Turtles in Time will not hit the Xbox Live Arcade on August 5th for just 800 Microsoft points.

Now I wonder, will this effect the 800 Microsoft Point promotion that you’ll get if you purchase all of the Summer of Arcade titles?

Call of Duty 1 on Xbox Live and PSN ‘eventually’

July 31st, 2009 2 Comments   Posted in DLC, Microsoft, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that both the Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition and Prestige Edition comes with a token for a digital download the original Call of Duty (now called Call of Duty: Classic).

Well, it looks like those who want just Call of Duty 1 and not Modern Warfare 2 have some time to wait as Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward has commented on the classic’s public availability:

“Prestige and Hardened Edition buyers will be getting access to Call of Duty: Classic first. It’ll eventually be coming out for both Xbox Live Arcade and PSN as a stand-alone arcade game.”

That could mean days or possibly even months after Modern Warfare 2 is released. Alternatively, you can just hop on Amazon.com and purchase the original PC game for under $12. Now that’s a bargain!

Resonance of Fate getting simultaneous EU and US release

July 31st, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Adventure, PlayStation 3, RPG, Xbox 360

Europe gets video game releases much later than its North American counterpart. This is fact, and it’s not fair. Fortunately, Sega Europe is making efforts to make sure that each continent gets equal treatment. Speaking to VideoGamer, localization producer Jun Yoshino has confirmed that Resonance of Fate will be seeing a simultaneous European and North American release.

“America and Europe is the same release. Usually the European version comes a year after, let’s say the Japanese release,” Yoshino said. “During the year, a lot of people are going to like, well this is old news now. We’re going to be losing a lot of interest if there is such a long time as a year. We’ve scheduled it in so we can get it out as quick as possible.”

Resonance of Fate will be released Spring of 2010, and the fourth quarter of this year in Japan.

Shadow of Destiny PSP port coming to US, à la ESRB

An ESRB listing of the Shadow of Destiny port for the PlayStation Portable reveals that the game will be getting a North American release. The game was rated Teen for Alcohol Reference, Animated Blood, and Violence. Nothing official from Konami says anything about the release, but at least we know that it’s definitely on its way.

The Japanese version is set to debut on October 1st, so it could be possible that it’ll be released not too far after. Unfortunately, no word on a European or Australian release yet.

The Matrix Online gets unplugged today

July 31st, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Action, Business, MMO, Online, PC

All players of The Matrix Online today will be taking the blue pill, as today marks the end of the online service of the game. Sony Online Entertainment will be terminating the service after four years of delays, ad controversy, and other drama. But, we will always remember the game for what it is; a fun way to relive the movie.

Subscribers the game were raised to the highest level, and given access to all of the stuff that they might not have been able to try before the game was ended. Additionally, the game was made available free of charge for anyone to try in its last days.

This isn’t the first time an MMO has died, just look at Hellgate: London, which only survived around two years of online service.

Rest in peace, The Matrix Online.
