DSiWare purchases tied to the DSi that downloaded them

nintendodsi

Usually, when you purchase digital content it is assumed that if you migrate hardware you will be able to bring the software with you. However, with the DSi and DSiWare purchases, that doesn’t seem the be the case.

Nintendolife questioned Nintendo of Australia if users who were to purchase one of the new colored DSi’s would be able to transfer their DSiWare purchases over to which they replied no, you won’t be able to.

If however, your DSi is rendered unplayable and you purchase a new one, you can send both of the consoles into Nintendo to get your DSiWare purchases transferred. But honestly, who wants to do that?

heroesofthefall2

Battlefield Heroes is a completely free to play game so it was generally assumed that EA wouldn’t be putting much effort into release additional content for it. However, considering the game’s success EA has gone ahead and released the Heroes of the Fall content pack for the game.

The change list, included after the break, is quite long with some notable features being the all new Riverside Rush map, new items and a whole slew of bug fixes.

Ghostbusters coming to PSP, first trailer released

September 30th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Adventure, PSP, Portable

If you were a fan of Atari’s Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2 Ghostbusters: The Video Game release and happen to own a PSP, you will be happy to hear that Atari has today released the above trailer for a portable version of the game.

As you can see from the trailer, just because it’s on the PSP doesn’t mean that the developers will be skimping on visuals or gameplay as it looks like it is packed with it.

Atari says Ghostbusters PSP will be out in November of this year. Anyone else as excited as I am?

Modern Warfare 2 Monster Energy drink on its way

September 30th, 2009 4 Comments   Posted in PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

mw2monster

With the June release of World of Warcraft branded Game Fuel, one would be led to believe that Activision Blizzard would again strike a deal with Mountain Dew for a similar Modern Warfare 2 drink. However, those who thought this would be wrong as Activision is aiming for a drink with a bit more caffeine, namely Monster Energy.

That’s right, what you see above is the Modern Warfare 2 branded Monster Energy Drink, entitled Assault, that will hit store shelves sometime next month to hype the public up for the game’s presumably massive release.

What’s even better is those who purchase said energy drink will be given the chance to win a whole slew of prizes like Modern Warfare 2 itself, codes for a map pack due for a spring 2010 release, MW 2 Xbox 360 and PS3 themes and free Monster Energy drinks.

Uncharted 2 Twitter feature gets disabled for the time being

September 29th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Online, PlayStation 3

uncharted2twitter

A few weeks ago it was made known that Uncharted 2 would feature the ability to update your Twitter feed when you recieved a Trophy, connected to a multiplayer game and more.

In theory, this sounds like a good idea, but someone following an Uncharted 2 fiend would undoubtedly get ridiculous annoyed. Naughty Dog seems to have taken note of this, issuing the below statement:

“Some reviewers have had early access to the game and selected the option to update their Twitter accounts as they completed each chapter of the game. This has resulted in some Twitter feeds being updated multiple times an hour. We obviously want to provide the best experience for everybody, so for the time being we’ve disabled Twitter updates on chapter completions. The option will still exist in the menus when the game ships on 10/13, but if activated, it will do nothing. Some time after the game has shipped, we’ll release a patch to reactivate the feature, but with a limit on the frequency of updates.”

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 review

September 29th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Action, Adventure, PlayStation 3, Reviews, Xbox 360

Marvel Ultimate Alliance was the dream game of any comic book fan, as it included tons of Marvel characters in the same game, all playable. However, the dream was cut short by lackluster gameplay and bad design choices. The sequel, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, tries to correct many of those errors, and, for the most part, it succeeds. But by focusing too much on fixing what was broken, they forgot to do something equally important: add something new.

The story of Ultimate Alliance 2 is based on two Marvel stories, Civil war and Secret War, and if you’re into Marvel comic books, you’ll know exactly what it is. For the rest of us, the game does a good job of setting it up, which basically goes like this: the Government wants super heroes to legally register, which splits the super heroes into two factions, those for and those against. The player has the liberty to chose either side, which means you can play the campaign as both sides, twice, which is a great way of adding replay value. More »

Fable II: Game Episodes volume 1 available now

fable2

If you were still looking to get down on Fable II but haven’t been able to due to the game’s price tag now is your chance to do so for free. It was announced today that the first volume of Fable II: Game Episodes is now available to download.

If you haven’t heard of Fable II: Game Episodes before, it is essentially the full retail Fable II game split up into 5 episodic releases in the sense that it will include the exact same content including achievements and co-op game play. This first release  is a free one in which you will take your character from being a child to a young adult.

If you find at the end of the first volume you want to adventure on, you can just purchase additional episodes. Quite a brilliant idea, if I do say so myself.

update42

If you booted up your Wii today you may have noticed that  version 4.2 of the Wii menu is now available for download. Don’t expect any amazing features from this update because, well, there are none. Unless you consider “behind-the-scene fixes” that will work to “improve overall system performance” amazing features that is.

Of course, for you homebrewers out there this, this update disables the use of unauthorized saved files but fret not as the dedicated community is probably already close to releasing a fix.

Super Street Fighter IV teaser trailer

September 29th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Yesterday Capcom officially announced Super Street Fighter IV, a retake on the popular fighter Street Fighter IV with additional characters, and today they have released the first trailer for the game.

Unfortunately, the trailer is just a teaser and doesn’t feature any new game play or mention of the 8 new characters. However, it does feature Ken and Ryu kicking the crap out of each other in a cinematic styled similar to the one found at the beginning of Street Fighter IV.

Want more info? You’re going to have to wait until Super Street Fighter IV’s spring 2010 release date draws closer.

The predecessor to FF XII has sold about six million copies since it was released in 2005, and the publisher expects the new title to do even better, which is not an unrealistic goal, as the franchise has a solid fan base around the world. Final Fantasy XIII will be released this December in Japan on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and in the rest of the world a few months later.

Left 4 Dead 50% off weekend

September 29th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Action, Adventure, DLC, PC

In order to celebrate the new Crash Course DLC, Valve is offering a 50% discount on Left 4 Dead this weekend, meaning the game will cost a meager $15. To make the deal even sweeter, the new offer includes the recently released DLC as well.

However, considering that Left 4 Dead 2 will be coming out in about a month, some might be tempted to wait and get the sequel instead, which we can certainly understand. For everyone else though, $15 sure buys a lot of zombie slaying.
