Infinity Ward responds to MW2 petition
Earlier today we let you know that a petition for dedicated Modern Warfare 2 servers has garnered over 100,000 signatures. Now, Infinity Ward’s Jason West and Vince Zampella has come forth to comment on the petition and frankly, they aren’t having.
Apparently, instead of catering to the “modders and tuners” they are focusing on the player experience and trying to make it legit as possible. In fact, the two have said that they have received a large amount of complaints regarding cheating in Call of Duty 4 and the inability to find a server without a cheater.
So petitioners, blame it on the cheaters for no dedicated servers.

well tbh its up to people who host a server to mnaintain it therefore run and write anti cheat scripts and servers run with out do end up with cheaters.Ive played hundreds of custom maps and mods in my time in the cod series and the modding and tweeking is what makes be buy the game i play pc for the mods for the new things people share online via maps items for maps uniforms remade anything they want because its fun thats what cod is all about its the ability to have a game given to you thats already good and have the option to make it better to try things out and have somew fun and without this Cod is just another fps like medal of honour (and we all know how boring those games are)

Fact has it we dont want to pay for the mods and extra map packs but we will. but i shure am not going to hand over $60.00 for a game that is on steam that sucks ass and updates are allways late. and no dedicated servers means no clan support no twl no competitive play so what is the point and as far as cheaters whell think about it. Last time I checked the petition was signed by over 170,000 people. Looks to me that there are a few gamers out there, who found dedicated servers, where the hacking and cheating was not as bad as Infinity Ward wants to make people belive it is.
Our clan servers do live streaming to PBbans. In addition to that, we also monitor the language by using Morkeye. I know a lot of clans with the same setup we have. Cheaters and hackers have a tuff time on our servers,that is why everybody else has a good time.
We all want to have a good time gaming, that’s why we need dedicated servers!

Dont be a douche skeetz ya fucking faggot.Dedicated servers are important to all PC gamers.I for one have a 12 yr old son that I play cod4 with and I was going to get the game for both of us until this shit.Now we wont be able to join the same server because Im better than him(and you)Just because your a nub dont mean everybody cheats..if you came in to our server that stream pb bans you will swear we cheat with your negative kdr..but we dont.All of us in =LAG= are super competitive and have to meet a 2.0kdr requirement to be in the clan.The kicker is that our server base are returning players that also kick ass and are very good.A lot of clan are fucked up about this shit and this is not right. Let’s face it, this decision has been made purely for the making of more money. There’s talk of paying for DLC, there’s even talk of having to subscribe to IW.net in the future. This decision just shows how valuable the customers are to Activision, they’ve sold out. They are banging there gums about people cheating, there’s tens of thousands of server to choose from, if you join one and think people are cheating, simply find another? The maximum players in MW2 is 9×9 for MP? That’s not a multiplayer experience by any means. They’ve also stated that it’s to reduce piracy. Are they aware that MW2 is already available to download for the 360 and a quick firmware upgrade to 1.6 and jobs a good un. I personally hope everyone downloads cracked versions for the PC and the consoles, play the single player for free then wait for Bad Company 2. Shame on you Activision for selling out, I hope and pray that MW2 is a massive FAIL for you greedy swines!!

With the likes of ATI Radeon 5870 and nvidia GTX295 and the new i7 and i5 cpu’s why are software developers castrating their PC releases. PCs are now far more powerful than the xbox360 using GPU’s similar to the GeForce 3 and GeForce 4 PC GPU. And what do they do? cut off PC gamers by releasing a game with no dedicated servers. I’ll go back to COD UO before I buy a game with no dedicated servers.

advantages with servers:
you get a good gaming community and make friends.
a cheater is ALWAYS stopped after less than a minute
servers allow there own rules. e.g. ban for deliberate teamkilling
voting systems always end up with arguing not enjoying
more player limit
you can have more people playing on a server for better gameplay
clans use servers rather than going onto other servers because they want there own community
its the method we have always used and understand already
it supports server renting companies
and for you, 180,000 more people will buy it. and 180,000 x £30= £5.4million approx $9million. and another advantage for you is that we might consider getting more infinity ward games.

i have never seen a hacker on a server that hasnt been banned by punkbuster. these people whining about hacking are either super noobs or people that have filtered to servers that dont have punkbuster.
also mods are just a way that pc gamers can give the game a little more variety. and that steam shit destroys variety by playing against similar skill players. that would mean that 100% of players on the game would have about a 1/1 kill death ratio every map every day every month. that must be a gaming experience of a lifetime(sarcasm). id rather get eaten alive by rats than support this shit. (also, people who play xbox/ps3 you would support this as well if you had servers from the start).

Even if only half of the nearly 200k signatures don’t buy the game, that’s about six million in lost revenue for IW and Activision. Wouldn’t it be easier to simply cater to both sides and have IW.Net AND dedicated servers? Win-win.
And those complaints of cheaters on every server are completely unfounded. Maybe there are millions of complaints, but how many of the complaints are legitimate? I see whiny noobs crying about cheaters all the time…but they cry because they suck and they don’t have the patience or skill required to get better at the game. They get mad, cry that everyone better than them is a hack and rage quit with a letter to IW about how terrible the MP experience was. Of all the servers in my favs list, not a single one isn’t streaming PBBans because everyone knows that PB will never be enough to combat cheating. So to say that clans aren’t trying to be proactive about cheaters is blind ignorance on IW’s part. If they were in touch with the backbone (clans) of the CoD community, they wouldn’t be making these fucking ridiculous claims. The way I see it, clans are the front lines when it comes to anti-cheat.
If hardware manufacturers had any sense they’d be boycotting Activision and IW, too, as this will put a serious dent in their business.

I agree, ppl should crash their servers for not putting dedicated servers up. I have got all the cod series and have been a great customer for them, on almost all the platforms. But you are basically taking the “fun” out of gaming with friends and taking the “fun” out of running your own server, as this is no longer possible on any level.
You say you can make your own rules like on the xbox and ps3 platforms, yet modern rcon isnt the same:

So you either have to host and risk being banned, or be a consumer and lag with 200 ping the whole time. All they had to do was put some dedicated servers up and allow modding and they wouldnt have lost 20000 pre orders, which was something around £600,000?, and i guess thats not even the begining of it. People will hack it, its the same shitty anti cheat system as counterstrike, and people will ruin this game. Do not add to IW’s money making shit and get borderlands…

Just wanted to put my thoughts in, one, boycotting won’t work, $9 mil isn’t a big hit on iw pocket. Two, I feel for you pc guys, no dedi servers will seriously bring down the value of everyones experience, and three, there are cheaters on the ps3 and xbox, but as far as I’ve seen, they are few and far between, most complaints ARE noobs that suck! Last thing I want to point out – ps3 is the least hacked system! That’s why I play ps3, xbox is easy to hack/mod and so is the pc! Most forums I looked at bash the xbox (haxbox lol) and the pc. I will give MW2 a chance though and see how it works out, which is what I suggest to everyone, you won’t know for sure if you don’t try it and you can’t talk shit either! Happy gaming everyone!

within 24 hours people got around the steam authentication! it happens I have played COD4 and 95% of the people who are labeled as hackers in the game (on the servers I play on)are not hackers they are good players. I am tired of everytime a whining bitch like ryanmax gets schools he screams foul! most players are also not playing on non pb servers how hard is it to look at a tick mark and see weather or not PB is on it. as for you RyanMax you disapoint me. you wonder why you can’t connect but yet with the same interface as COD4 you could see that either A. you have too high of a ping or B. your firewall is blocking you. The greedy fools spouted a lot of rubbish to back their reasons for not having dedi servers/mods and have probably learned a thing or two from the backlash. Sadly if they are pig-headed enough to do that to us then they are pig-headed enough to not admit to their idiocy and fix their massive mistake.
Whether they make enough cash without the PC gaming fraternity or not doesn’t bother me, at least they ain’t gonna be dining out on my hard earned cash.
All that madness to rush out and buy the game for extortionate prices and you can get it for 25% less already.
I hope it all goes pear shaped for IW. Probably not but there is always hope.
We caught cheaters immediately in our clan servers. The majority of the dedicated server PC CoD community run their servers very well and always have.

IW enjoy losing out on the $13 million+ you would have from the pc version. But dont worry guys Bad Company 2 is coming out they will support pc gamers our modding comminuty.

guys guys guys quit bitching and pay the money to play hell im glad they making pc users pay for there online experience i have xbl and i pay for mine its not expensive so why make such a big deal over like 50 bucks a year just play the servers they give you and be happy with it

Sorry to foil your ‘blame it on the cheaters’ and IW’s attempt at preventing hacks but theres already existing aimbots / hacks widely available for MW2. In fact, they were already coded and available the second day after its release. No matter what you do you will not stop hacking and anti cheat method bypass. You patch it, they will find a way around it. At least with dedi’s you could kick/ban people. This is just a plain idiotic ideology on IW’s part. To make it short and simple: They ported the xbox 360 version to pc and flat–out lied about it.

I love the single player , its awesome , but wihout dedicated server its suck my fucken ass hole, the bitch yell at us about cheat and shit is a fucken stupid idiot because he is a fucken hacker he probly got in every single dedicated server , it easy to hack in fucken stupid steam , every single steam server got hacker ,its well known since counter strike, what we need to do is find the way to fucken deal with IW . gotta be a way , I dont know ,something like imply some shit , or missed lead some shit.

I ran 2 server in CS back in 1998 , I banned atleast 5 hackers every day and I ran codwaw server sicne Jan banned less 3 hackers so far but I banned over 100 for bad Language and rule breakers.. so tell me ? more hackers in steam or more hacker in PB?
