Microsoft has announced today that they are setting their sights on Xbox Live members with a modded Xbox 360. And by setting their sights on, I mean they are issuing a massive banning.

A Microsoft spokesperson said the following to IGN:

“We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs. In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox LIVE.”

So, any of you readers with a modded Xbox 360 notice that you can’t log onto Xbox Live anymore?

    @John

    Yeah, that’s true man.

    We’re you not verifying your backups with abgx?

  6. Nick Says:

    um some people don’t actually use pirated games in fact the whole purpose of flashing the dvd drive (modding) was so people could back up their games that they purchased so that if the orignial got scratched or ruined they wouldn’t have to go out and spend another $60 on a game they already bought.

    This really wouldn’t be a problem if people didn’t have to ruin it and download games off the internet.

  7. Epic Fail Says:

    I never downloaded a single game, always used abgx when doing backups at home and I still got banned. There is NO proven way of getting around the banning.
