3D gaming the way of the future?

December 10th, 2009 Posted in PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 by Jeff Baker

3dtvThe hardware powering today’s home consoles have gotten progressively more powerful with every passing generation. However, with the introduction of the Nintendo Wii’s controller, causing the console to sell like hot cakes, it was made obvious that raw power isn’t the only thing that will sell consoles.

One area that Sony, nor Microsoft, nor Nintendo has yet to capitalize on is 3D gaming. Now of course you can argue that there is a miniscule amount of 3D ready TVs on the market and even less in homes but according to a study by Insight Media, that may change in the near future.

That test was called the Stereoscopic 3D Gaming Report that says by 2014 over 40 million 3D ready televisions will be in homes which leads you to ponder which of the big 3 console manufacturers will be the first to stick their toe in this exciting new market.
