Battlefield Heroes is a completely free to play game so it was generally assumed that EA wouldn’t be putting much effort into release additional content for it. However, considering the game’s success EA has gone ahead and released the Heroes of the Fall content pack for the game.

The change list, included after the break, is quite long with some notable features being the all new Riverside Rush map, new items and a whole slew of bug fixes.

Plants vs. Zombies was, like many other PopCap games, has been a hit ever since it was released earlier this summer (read our Plants vs. Zombies review), and now the developer is offering the game to play for free on the official website. While it’s only a “trial” version, it still offers lots of play time, and you owe it to yourself to at least give it a go.

It seems that the guy who founded DICE, Fredrik Liljengren has moved onto bigger and better things with his latest game studio, Antic Entertainment. You may be familiar with DICE as the studio behind Battlefield: Bad Company and Battlefield: 1943.

Anyways, Antic Entertainment is to be a studio that specializes in free-to-play games with their first title being Junk: Battles. This browser based RTS will let players create their own ship and then duke it out against other players as they collect parts to upgrade said ship.

If you want to read more about Junk: Battles and Antic Entertainment, head over to the game’s official website here.

It seems that the guys over at Joystiq have managed to take the above screen shot of the Batman: Arkham Asylum main menu that reveals something we previously didn’t know. It seems that the game will be getting a free DLC pack sometime next week, as you can see from said screen shot.

Of course, we have absolutely no details regarding the DLC pack but chances are Rocksteady or Warner Bros. will come clean sometime within the next couple of days.

Modern Warfare 2 to feature duel wielding

August 31st, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Events, Free, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

It wasn’t until Halo 2 that the franchise saw the ability to duel wield appear so it would only make sense that Infinity Ward would do the same with Modern Warfare 2. That’s right, you will now be able to duel wield weapons in the highly anticipated title using the Akimbo perk.

The above screen shot was taken at the Games Crazy Con that recently went on in Las Vegas where Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling took the main stage to give us a live demo of the game. Sure, the screen shot is blurry but you can definitely make out duel wielded Desert Eagles if you look close enough.

Not to mention the below Tweet from Bowling’s Twitter:

Just walked off stage. Crowd was amazing, went insane chanting “pick it up!” when I stumbled over Dual-wield Deagles. lol – Akimbo confirmed

Modern Warfare 2 will hit store shelve for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 10th of this year.

Right now, Killing Floor is only available via Steam, where it competes with fellow zombie shooter Left 4 Dead. For people who can’t handle the bandwidth, the game will be available in stores worldwide soon.

Soldier Front update rolls out, new map and female character

July 20th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in FPS, Free, PC, Update

NHN USA announces that a new Soldier Front update has been released today, releasing a new map and female character faction, the Mulan Special Forces. The new map is titled Venice, Italy and is based off of the streets of, you guessed it, Venice.

Soldier Front is run on a free-to-play model, with the option to purchase game currency for paid content. The game is published on ijji, NHN USA’s game portal website. You can grab it for free over at the official website in a quick 300MB download.

I’ve played the game and I can say that it’s definitely not worth to buy the special weapons and such, but it’s worth a go in case you want a pick-me-up FPS.

Ubisoft starts making apps for Facebook, launches TickTock

July 18th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Casual, Free, PC

With all of the thousands of useless applications on the social networking website Facebook, it would only be a matter of time that video game developers would jump on the bandwagon and begin developing for the popular platform.

Ubisoft is one of the first to do this, and have already launched an application, TickTock, for the site. The application isn’t exactly a game, but more of a trivia challenge of how well you know your friends. Some type of bomb is created by you and six of your friends have to defuse it in order for you to win by answering trivia questions about your friends. The concept is very refreshing in a sea of Facebook applications (e.g. the very offensive Own Your Friends).

“We’re going to try to make best applications for Facebook, just like we make the best applications for the Xbox 360 and Wii,” said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America.
