If you’ve been following Modern Warfare 2 as close as possible you will know that a video of the first level leaked onto the internet yesterday. If you’re not a fan of spoilers, DO NOT READ ON.

The video showcased a group of terrorists proceeding through a airport gunning down a ridiculous amount of civilians in the process while one of the terrorists is controlled by the player. At the end of the video, the player controlled terrorist is shown getting betrayed by the rest of the group and is left on the ground to die.

Well, Activision has today commented on the video saying that the player has an option to skip this scene and is warned that it is potentially disturbing. They also have said that the level is in the game to show the player how urgently they need to stop this terrorist organization and that the game is intended for those 18 or older so they aren’t really in the wrong putting it in there.

Of course, this level is going to have a whole slew of negative media attention.

A new rating filing has popped up on the Classification Database for Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut. The game is a remake of the original Sonic Adventure game which was later released on the Nintendo GameCube and PC.

The multiplatform filing can only lead an assumption for an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network release, although nothing official has been said by SEGA yet.

Xbox 360 dashboard now with commercials

July 20th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Business, Hardware, Leak, Microsoft, Xbox 360

If you log on to Xbox Live right now, you will notice that there are actually video commercials playing on your dashboard, complete with sound. No longer are there little images of ads, but there are actually full-fledged Silverlight videos.

If you aren’t so happy with this, you can just chose not to watch them since no one is forcing you to. But one can’t help question why these ads are fair if players are already paying for their subscription to Xbox Live. I can understand the need for them if it was a free service, but clearly it isn’t.. Anyways, the ads claim to be non-intrusive, so we can only hope for the best.

Rumor: New WoW expansion races leaked?

July 17th, 2009 4 Comments   Posted in Leak, MMO, Multiplayer, Online, PC, RPG, Rumor

The latest Public Test Realm patch 3.2.0 in the World of Warcraft not only includes the upcoming Crusaders’ Coliseum, but also textures for upcoming Halloween events. Some of these textures were leaked by MMO-Champion, and reveal to be Goblin and Worgen masks. Now, note that these are the only two masks that were in the texture. Even if the patch itself is merely a PTR, it still holds some significance.

Goblins are a neutral race in the game, meaning they don’t hold allegiance to either the Horde or Alliance, so it’s possible that they can be the very first multi-faction race. As for Worgens, one can only assume that they will be Alliance exclusive, or also be another multi-faction race.

Remember though, it’s all speculation, so don’t get your Warcraft undies in a bunch. Hopefully more information will be revealed in this year’s BlizzCon.

Sega reveals new teaser site for upcoming game

Sega has revealed a new teaser website, showcasing an upcoming mystery game. The site’s title is simply “Jackpot” and shows a container filled with lottery-esque balls. Pulling the lever lets a few of the balls go, which represent a timer for when the formal announcement for the game will come out.

There’s no telling what the game could be, but seeing the teaser site’s theme, one can assume that it will most probably be a sequel to Sega Casino for the Nintendo DS. But who knows, it could even be the return of the Dreamcast for all we know.

Wolfenstein delayed?

July 14th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in FPS, Leak, PC, PlayStation 3, Rumor, Xbox 360

Online retailers like GameStop and GameCrazy are listing the id Software’s Wolfenstein for an August 18th release. This is contradictory to what the game’s publisher, Activsion, announced as an August 4th release back in May.

BluesNews also points out that id Software is also using this year’s QuakeCon to promote the game, which will be held from August 13-16. Still, no official word from either the publisher or developer on the delay.

The sci-fi first-person-shooter will be released for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Linux platforms.

PS3 Killzone 2/MGS4 80GB bundle coming to Best Buy?

July 6th, 2009 2 Comments   Posted in Hardware, Industry, Leak, PlayStation 3

If the above pictures are anything to go by, Best Buy is gearing up to launch a 80GB PS3 bundle that will include both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

According to Joystiq, Best Buy employees have confirmed the bundle to be real and that it will feature a $399 price point just like the normal 80GB system. This is quite the enticing deal to those who have yet to purchase a PS3 and are looking to.

Perhaps Sony is looking to push more PS3s out the door to make way for a cheaper model. Or perhaps, the PS3 slim?

Sony Says “Shockers” Still Coming

June 1st, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Business, E3, Leak, News, PSP

Sure, the PSP Go has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the gaming industry for the last few months, but until yesterday there hadn’t been real confirmation of its look, design or features. Pictures of it leaked, along with a list of features and the news that new Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid titles were being developed for the handheld.

Sony PR representative Jake Osuwah is assuring both E3 attendees and the general public that their bag of tricks is far from empty. After the pictures and details of the new device were leaked onto the internet Osuwah twittered: “Pre-E3 announcements or not! There’s still lots of shockers planned for you guys @ E3, stay tuned…”

Of course the real question is how many of these pre-E3 leaks are actually leaks and how many are deliberate releases masquerading as slip-ups in confidentiality.

PSP Go made official, pictures and specs leaked

May 30th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in E3, Hardware, Leak, PSP

Seemingly out of no where Sony’s upcoming PSP Go has been leaked prior to its E3 revealing. What you see above is said device and you’ll notice it looks almost exactly how the community thought it would;slide out controls, no UMD, the works.

Anyways, onto the specs courtesy of Engadget:

  • 3.8-inch display (resolution is undisclosed)
  • 43 percent lighter than the PSP-3000
  • 16GB of Flash storage
  • Bluetooth built-in; supports handset tethering and BT headsets
  • No UMD drive
  • Memory Stick Micro slot
  • New Gran TurismoLittle Big Planet and new Metal Gear Solid (!) on the way
  • Full PlayStation Network support (movie and TV rentals / purchases)
  • Integration with PlayStation 3 (works the same as the PSP-3000 does)
  • Sony views each of its products as “10-year lifecycle products,” so the PSP “needs to live on.”

That’s all we have for now, expect to see the PSP Go heavily on display during E3 which is right around the corner.

Complete Fight Night Round 4 roster leaked

Sure, EA correctly predicted this past weekend’s professional boxing match using the game, but up until now we didn’t even know Fight Night Round 4’s full roster.

Recently leaked by means of a scanned Official Playstation Magazine page, the Fight Night Round 4 roster includes a full 50 fighters for you to choose from.

Not happy with the list? Nestled subtly above the list is a little tidbit that there is a possibility of more boxers being added via DLC.

MAG screenshots leaked

April 4th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in FPS, Leak, PlayStation 3

It looks like someone has uploaded a few screenshots from the upcoming first person shooter MAG: Massive Action Game. The screenshots are available via Flickr, uploaded by someone under the username “1337guyzorz”. Included with the screenshots are some neat character art.

The source of the photos is unknown, however. They are not official screenshots from Sony, but they seem legitimate enough. You can view the set here. MAG will be out for the PS3 later this year.

April 2nd, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Leak, MMO, Online, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360

What you see above is a recently leaked slide shown by THQ to investors at a meeting held in Februrary. Not only does it show that games like Saints Row 3, and Red Faction 4 actually exist, it gives us a time window for when they might hit the market.

According to the slide, Saints Row 3 is expected sometime in 2011-2012, while Red Faction 4 and a Warhammer 40,000K MMO is expected in 2012-2013.

So then, THQ, can we get some official announcements?
