Spore Has Ending

July 17th, 2008 by Will Prusik in Mac, News, PC, Simulation

Most sim-type games don’t feature an end game. There’s the general goal of building the best possible city/theme park/etc but that’s usually an ongoing process which is up to the player to decide is completed. Surprisingly the upcoming Spore actually does feature an ending. After you’ve built your creature’s society up from the microscopic level to spacefaring abilities that’s when you’ll hit what the game’s producer referred to as the “RPG phase”.

The goal will be to progress towards the center of the universe, which is set to take about fifteen to twenty hours. No matter how boring, unusual or inappropriate your creature looks the ending, which reportedly features a twist, will always be the same.

July 8th, 2008 by Will Prusik in Mac, News, RPG, Strategy

Square Enix is spreading its influence further than ever before. Can’t afford a DS to pick up the newest Final Fantasy Tactics titles because you spent all your money on an iPod? Get your RPG fix for a low price of only $4.99 on the iTunes store. The game is available only on the iTunes store and works solely with iPod nanos with video, iPod Classic and Fifth Generation iPods.

The full title is Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes and as you can imagine from the title, the game has a distinct musical theme. You’ll defend the land of Melodica as the protagonist named Ziggy from the hordes of the Mechanoids, evil beings who replace their bodies with mechanical parts. Ziggy is the only hope for the land, being the ‘Song Summoner’ who can summon “powerful warriors born of music”.

The units you summon to do battle in this turn-based strategy RPG title are created from songs in your library and base their abilities on the kind of song they are. In addition to progressing in strength and abilities in battle, you can strengthen your units even while not playing by simply listening to the songs they’re created from.
