Turn10 has released the first Fora 3 DLC, and completely free. While it’s not the biggest release ever — only includes three cars — it’s still great to know that they’ll offer stuff for free.

The DLC includes 3 “custom and fully-tuned” variants of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and is available now for download to all Xbox Live Gold members.

It’s no surprise that Modern Warfare 2’s launch was anything less than a huge success considering the game was pre-ordered over 4.5 million times but VGCHartz has rounded up some preliminary week one data and the results are quite outstanding.

It seems that all together, the game has sold close to 9.4 million copies across the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC raking in an astounding $600 million for Activision. Now let’s just wait until the holiday season comes and goes and we’re sure to be seeing some ridiculous numbers.

I think it’s safe to say we will be seeing Modern Warfare 3, 4, 5 etc because I mean, it is Activision, after all.

Of course, if you just want the real game you’ll have to wait until November 17th, wait, that’s tomorrow, did you get your pre-order in?

Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 outsells PS3 by 2:1

November 15th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Action, Business, Xbox 360

This is sure gonna fuel the heated debate between the Xbox 360 and PS3 fanboys, although in the Xbox 360s favor: it has been revealed that Modern Warfare 2 is selling twice as many copies on the Xbox 360 than on the PlayStaion 3. It’s not that big of a surprise, really, since the 360 has a bigger install base and better online functionality — Modern Warfare 2 even contributed to setting a new record on Xbox Live with over 2 million members online at once.

Banned Xbox 360s flood Craigslist

November 13th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Business, Industry, Online, Software, Xbox 360

Oh boy, who’d have expected this: after Microsoft banned and bricked a million Xbox 360s, which were modded to play pirated games, XBox 360 consoles are now appearing on Craigslist all over the US, with prices starting as low as $120. While it’s fairly cheap and you might play games offline, you can’t go online with your modded console from Craigslist, and what’ and Xbox 360 without Xbox Live anyway? Oh, and there’s no warranty on modded consoles. Just so you know.

Xbox Live hits 2 million concurent users online

November 13th, 2009 2 Comments   Posted in Business, Microsoft, News, Online, Xbox 360

While Xbox Live’s online membership exceeds 20 million (minus one million), but the real milestone was made earlier yesterday, when a whopping 2 million users were online at the same time, most of which were playing Modern Warfare 2 (what else would they play, seriously?). And this news comes after Microsoft banned over a million users from Xbox Live. There’s nothing like large numbers the game companies throw at us. We sure like it.

Xbox 360 sells 10 million units in Europe

November 13th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Analyst, Business, Industry, Sales, Xbox 360

Europe has usually always come in second to North America when it comes to game and console sales, despite having a larger population. Microsoft today announced that the Xbox 360 has sold 10 million consoles in Europe, Africa and The Middle East (although the latter two only account for a few hundred thousand units).

The console has sold 12 million units in North America and 1 million in Japan since its release back in 2005, with worldwide sales topping 30 million.

Alan Wake premiering in May 2010

Remedy has always been secret about Alan Wake, and has been very careful not giving a firm release date on the gorgeous adventure game. Now MCV claims that a source tells them that the release date is set for the end of May on the Xbox 360, and will receive a “Hollywood-style promotion”? Does that mean we’re gonna be seeing a lot of Alan Wake merchandising? T-Shirts and cup-holders?

Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight, has received an official release date, and will be in stores on March 16 in North America and March 19 in Europe. While those are dates on the release, they’re also dates on when the C&C 4 team will get sacked, as EA plans to let go the entire team behind the game as soon as it wraps up.

Microsoft banning 1 million Xbox Live users

November 12th, 2009 3 Comments   Posted in Business, Console, Industry, Microsoft, Online, Xbox 360

Information Week suggests that Microsoft has banned over 5% of Xbox Live members because they use modded consoles. Since there are just over 20 million Live members, it means over 1 million accounts have been suspended because they use modded consoles, which makes them play pirated games.

Borderlands DLC landing on November 24th

November 10th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Action, Adventure, FPS, PC, PlayStation 3, RPG, Xbox 360

Borderlands is enjoying great critical and commercial success at the moment, and the game has lined up its first DLC, called “The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned“, which will be available on November 24th for $10 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, developer Gearbox didn’t mention a PC version of the DLC, which is a bit disappointing, to be honest, especially if it turns out that the DLC won’t be available on the PC at all.

Based on the old NBA Hangtime-ish arcade games of the 90s, complete with the retro look and feel, and with the full NBA license. The game will be out on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow, and on the PS3’s PSN sometime in the future.
