New Resident Evil movie in 3D, first in trilogy
A new Resident Evil trilogy has spawned, beginning with the new Resident Evil: Afterlife film. It turns out that the entire movie will be in 3D. Paul W.S. Anderson, director and writer of the film, had a few words to say about the movie:
“I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films,” Anderson said. “And we’ve been very lucky where it’s a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I’m really excited we’re doing it [in 3-D] and we’re using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don’t regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise.”
Details are still scarce at the moment, but we know that Milla Jovovich will return as Alice. Resident Evil: Afterlife will be hitting cinemas September 17, 2010.

Resident Evil 5 made its console debut over 4 months ago and only now can we put our fingers on a solid date for the game’s PC rendition.

Resident Evil 5 in 3D? I’m down.
Metal Gear Arcade caught in its debut trailer
Yesterday we found out what the Metal Gear Arcade’s hardware would look like and now we know what the its gameplay will look like.
If you didn’t know Metal Gear Arcade is basically just Metal Gear Solid 4’s online component. The different with the arcade version, however, is that you will be using a new kind of controller specifically designed for this application along with the fact that its completely in 3D. So yes, you will be wearing some kind of 3D glasses goggles while playing this game.
Still no word on if Metal Gear Arcade will ever hit American arcades but it is set to his Japanese arcades sometime later this year.
Famitsu puts Metal Gear Arcade on display

First announced at EA, Kojima and Konami have kept their Metal Gear Arcade under wraps pretty well. Well, those wraps are still tightly bound but at least we have a few details and the above picture to hold us over thanks to the latest issue of Famitsu.
According ot the magazine, players will control the arcade while sitting down, wearing 3D glasses using a controller that allows for seperate movement and viewpoint control. Better yeah, in addition to being able to play solo players will get the chance to participate in up to 16-player co-op. Sounds awesome.
Unfortunately, there is no word on if Metal Gear Arcade will ever make it stateside but for those in Japan, it is set to hit arcades over there later this year.

Now here’s something I doubt anyone saw coming. If you’re familiar with the Spyro series, you’ll without a doubt recognize the dragon featuring in the above promotional advertisement. Well, that little guy is apparently coming to the big screen, in 3D.
There’s not much we have to go by other than the fact that it’s from the producers of Eragon but if you like dragons whats not to love about Spyro?
And when the hell are we going to see a Halo movie?

Playstation 3 to be 3D Ready in 2009?

The Playstation 3 is the most expensive console one could buy so far. We’ve told you Wii and Xbox are way cheaper and thus bringing in more sales. But what does Sony do instead of making it cheaper for a change? Well Sony dreams of 3D and it looks like the Playstation 3 will be 3D ready next year.
Sony didn’t say anything specifically about it but Blitz Games Studios, the company that creates and licenses the 3D engines told its pal Meant to be Seen, a stereoscopic 3D certification and advocacy group that Sony wants 3D. Well if Blitz Games Studios said so, who are we to judge?
Neil Schneider, President and CEO of Meant to be Seen said:
The best part is console support will only need a bios upgrade to work, We are told that the ability to add this capability via bios may be unique to Sony PS3 versus the other console solutions.
I don’t know about you guys but my eyes want to cry every single time I use one of those 3D glasses so I’m definitely not that excited by a 3D Playstation 3.

3D Gaming and HD Video Coming to Netbooks?

I bet you’ve desperately tried to play games on your newly acquired netbook. Sometimes you might have even managed to make some older games run right? What if NVIDIA or ATI introduced a graphic card in those tiny netbooks? Would you buy netbooks as a gaming device only?
NVIDIA has announced plans to release a mobile GPU, the 9400M to work together with that Intel Atom processors to deliver 3D gaming and HD video to netbooks. The 9400M will get you 1080p video decoding, dual-link DVI out, DirectX 10 graphics, CUDA and OpenGL.
The competition is also going to work out some sort of a solution for netbooks. AMD will roll its Yukon ultramobile platform and it will pair it with a mobile Radeon GPU from ATI.
And let’s not forget about VIA. VIA announced its Trinity platform which will get you a Via Nano processor, the VX800 northbridge and an S3 GPU. It will support too HD videos and DirectX 10 gaming.
It all sounds good, but I don’t see myself playing games on my netbook. How about you?
