Age of Booty on PC Today
Capcom announced today that PlayStation Network/Xbox Live Arcade title Age of Booty will be released to PC today in digital form.
Developed by Certain Affinity, the critically acclaimed game is now available from the official Capcom store for $10; it will also be available on Steam and Direct2Drive soon. A demo is expected sometime next week.
Age of Booty was released on XBLA back in October 2008. It is a RTS that puts players in control of a pirate ship with the goal of strategically capturing port towns across an isometric map.
Age of Booty PS3 Delayed
The PS3 version of Age of Booty has been delayed to “sometime around mid-November.”
The hex-based strategy game recently hit Xbox Live Arcade last Wednesday and was listed to arrive on the PlayStation Store yesterday.
The delay has been attributed to the game needing a “little more work” to “ensure the online experience for PSN users is as smooth, fun and addicting.”
However, it has been confirmed that the PS3 release will include trophies, the Xbox 360 Achievement-like functionality that rewards users for completing certain tasks.
Age of Booty Goes Gold, Arriving October 15
Pirate strategy game Age of Booty has gone gold and will arrive as a digital download on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on October 15 and 16, respectively, costing 800 Microsoft points ($10).
Created by Certain Affinity, the game is a hex-based strategy title formerly known as Plunder, which was, in turn, inspired by a Bungie joke about a “Pimps at Sea” game.
A PC version will also be released on digital distribution sites such as Steam for a $10 price tag. Demos for all platforms are expected to arrive soon.
Capcom Considering Wii Versions of Games
The Wii seems to have finally caught Capcom’s attention, as the company is now considering one or more of its in-development properties for release on the Wii. This comes from corporate officer Christian Svensson from the company’s official forums.
He revealed that “one or two” titles in development at the company are being considered for release on the Wii, though he wouldn’t name any titles. “We’d like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs,” Svennson noted.
However, Siliconera points out that Flock and Age of Booty seem the most likely candidates for porting to the Wii as they can be easily adapted to the console’s unique control scheme and graphics capabilities.
Capcom currently has a Wii version of Dead Rising in the works; it will also release Mega Man 9 for the platform.
