Amazon.com has today announced that they will be holding a buy 2 games get 1 free deal through Saturday, October 17th. In such an economy, this is a perfect time for gamers to rejoice and hop on this deal as fast as they can.

What’s better is games such as Madden NFL 10, Need for Speed: Shift, NHL 10 and Call of Duty: World at War all make the cut, among other titles.

Just in time for its Double XP weekend Gears of War 2 has been discounted from it’s normal $59.99 retail price to a much more palatable $39.99. Best of all, if you order on Amazon, that price (further discounted to $36.99) includes shipping.

There’s no telling if retailers will decide to hike the price back up so if you’re planning on purchasing Gears of War 2 at this discounted price, do it fast.

Amazon is at it again this time announcing that they will be holding a special promotion for the PS3, cutting prices on several games at various times throughout the day.

First and foremost, they will be cutting the price of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare all day long by 42% bringing the price down to $29.98. Additionally they will be holding timed deals with the first one being X-Men Origins: Wolverine at $40.

There’s no telling what else Amazon has left to unveil but be sure to check here periodically for new updates.

It seems that Amazon is following Walmart’s example and holding a sale except this time it’s a bit different, Amazon is discounting games you actually care about.

This is a apparantly a father’s day sale and includes Xbox 360 games and Wii and PS3 accessories. While you won’t be getting these games for $20 a piece they do have Call of Duty 4 for $29.99, CoD: WaW for $41.97 and Halo Wars for $41.99.

While some buyers are sure to purchase one or two of these games for Dad, I think I’ll be picking a couple 2-3 up for myself.

In July 2006 a site was launched called Goozex which allowed gamers to send in titles towards ‘purchasing’ other games. It’s set up on a points system based on supply and demand; the more popular your game is the more points you’ll get for it. Users pay $1 per trade and their own shipping costs, but in spite of this Goozex estimates they save their users around $20 per trade, adding up to a total of $3.7 million in savings for their clients since the site’s launch.

The service does actually seem to be offering better values than conventional trade-ins, where games trade-in values quickly decline. Unfortunately none of the GameStop locations I called were able to give me prices over the phone, but Amazon was easier to find. They value Fable II at $16.50, Resident Evil 5 at $19.50 for either console version, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition at $6.50 and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for the Wii at $15. The highest point value on Goozex is 1000, which can essentially be calculated at six cents per point. This means that Fable II and Resident Evil 5 are both valued at $60, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and MK:A are both valued at $27.

It looks like GameStop may have finally met its match in terms of the used videogame market.

After Amazon.com’s recent announcement that they will begin testing a trade-in video game program, GameStop’s stocks dropped a full 13% ending the day $3.54 lower than the previous price.

I don’t know about you guys, but if Amazon offers more money for trade-ins than GameStop does, I have no problem receiving Amazon store credit for it.

It looks like everyone wants a peice of the used game market; first Toys ‘R’ Us, now Amazon.com.

Amazon.com has recently launched the page www.amazon.com/tradeingames for, what else, trading in used games.

Amazon’s trade in service, however, doesn’t require you to even go to a store. If you’re games in good condition, just print out a shipping label, slap it on a box, and send it off.

You’re going to get Amazon.com credit for your trade-ins. But who cares? Amazon.com has everything, right?

If you still haven’t purchased Gears of War 2, where have you been living, under a rock? No seriously though, if you haven’t now’s a perfect opportunity thanks to Amazon’s latest promotion; if you purchase Gears of War 2 from them you will recieve 3 months of Xbox Live for free.
