Braid coming to PSN?

July 31st, 2009 No Comments   Posted in DLC, PlayStation 3

Back in May we saw Braid dated for a Mac release but have yet to hear anything about it hitting the Playstation 3. Well today, it seems that the Xbox Live Arcade title will be getting a Playstation 3 release after all as it has recently been listed on German’s USK website.

As you can see above, the document clearly states that Hothead Games’ Braid will be made avaialble for Sony’s Playstation 3.

Unfortunately, this is all we have to go by for now, we won’t know an official release date or price point until Sony comes forth and gives us one.

Critically acclaimed platformer Braid will be released on PC next month, according to Stardock. The game, originally released on Xbox Live Arcade, was hailed for its innovative ideas and the great use of physics.

Stardock has already opened up their pre-orders page on Impulse for the title. It will cost $19.95, a $5 premium over its Xbox Live release that arrived last year.

The game might come to other distribution platforms, including Steam, going by past comments made by creator Jonathan Blow.

“They are interested in putting the game up,” said Blow of Valve in a recent interview. “So it’s just a matter of me having a PC version ready that I feel is good to go with.”

Braid Developer: XBLA Certification Was a Burden

August 11th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Xbox 360

braid Having released the time-warping puzzle platformer Braid on Xbox Live Arcade, game developer Jonathan Blow revealed that the service’s certification requirements had become a burden during the game’s polishing phase.

“They removed some of the requirements for XBLA games, but there are still a lot of requirements,” he said. “And I believe that, at least for a single-player game like my game, the vast majority of these requirements are unnecessary.”

He continued, adding that he put “a tremendous amount of work” meeting the requirements, which, he noted, would have been more useful if he put it to work on the game itself. Blow further said that the amount of time and energy spent on passing certification has an impact on a title’s final product.
