Nintendo shuts down Smash Bros. Brawl user online service

It was recently announced over at the Smash Bros. Dojo that the service that allows users to upoad things like replays and custom stages will be no more. Below is the following announcement taken straight from the site:
As of June 30th, 2009, the current service that accepts user-generated snapshots, stage designs, and replay data will no longer be available. Please note, however, that we will continue to distribute such data after that date.
Hmm, no word as to why this service will be ending or if it will ever return.
Oh yeah and before you get too worked up please make note that this announcement won’t affect your ability to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl online, you just won’t be able to upload user created content anymore.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl in HD
It seems that a YouTube user by the name of renebarahona has taken the initiative and uploaded a bunch of videos displaying Super Smash Bros. Brawl in 720p.
Now you’re probably thinking to yourself, Nintendo didn’t include 720p output with the Wii. Well, that’s true but it doesn’t mean its games can’t be successfully rendered in an HD resolution.
This was accomplished using the Dolphin emulator for the PC. To really take in the full effect you’re probably going to want to click through on the above video and watch it in the true HD resolution. The little screen just doesn’t cut it.
Couple Arrested Over Gift Brawl
If you celebrate the Christmas tradition of giving brightly wrapped gifts then chances are you’ve gotten a few bad ones here and there. I had a relative who never understood that at age sixteen I wasn’t terribly interested in the Power Rangers anymore. I once received a can of WD-40, probably my most surreal gift of all time. One couple from New Hampshire found their Christmas day ruined by what seems like it wouldn’t be a bad gift at all.
Randi Young purchased a brand new Nintendo Wii for her boyfriend, twenty-six year old Heath Blom. When that fateful day arrived he unwrapped it, hoping for a remote-controlled airplane. Instead of feigning excitement or simply thanking her for the generosity and then asking if she’d kept the receipt, he threw a temper tantrum. Ms. Young promptly punched him in the face and set to pack her bags. Blom attempted to block her exit and after she hit him several more times he seized her by the hair and dragged her down the stairs. The police were called and both of them were arrested when the police noticed that they were both bruised.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Breaking Records
It’s been well known that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been the single most anticipated Wii title since before it’s official announcement almost two years ago. The title was finally released, in America as well as Japan, a little over a week ago. So what does Nintendo have to show for it? According to a recent report, they actually have quite a lot. Not only does Nintendo sell approximately one hundred and twenty copies a minute (which means they sold under another hundred in the time it took to read this), but the game is the fastest selling Wii game ever. Wait, it gets even better. Not only is it the fastest selling Wii title, but Super Smash Bros. Brawl is in fact Nintendo’s fastest selling title to date, selling over 1.4 million in the U.S.A since the game launched. I might be going out on a limb here, but I think it’s likely that we’ll see a fourth title in the Super Smash Bros. series announced sooner or later.
Smash Bros: Little Mac From Tyson’s Punch Out Reeinters The Ring

Yeah, he’s pretty small, but he’s an Assist Trophy so it’s quite fitting. Little Mac reenters the ring in Brawl, having been Champion in Mike Tyson’s Punch Out on NES. Regardless of his small stature, Little Mac seems to be quite the fighter, being able to take on enemies twice his size. He’ll dash, jab, then uppercut the enemy into the air, check out the pictures after the jump to see him pwn Ike.
