Brutal Legend getting Tears of the Hextadon DLC pack

EA’s Brutal Legend just made it onto store shelves earlier this month and already the game’s developers have come forth to announce the DLC pack Tears of the Hextadon.
This pack will feature 2 additional maps entitled Circle of Tears and Death’s Fjord for playings to utilize with Stage Battle. Circle of Tears will feature a “rough-hewn” circular design while Death’s Fjord will feature an icy mountain landscape.
EA says Tears of the Hextadon will be hitting Xbox Live on November 3rd for 400 Microsoft Points and the Playstation Network on November 5th.

Brutal Legend probably won’t get delayed

If you’ve been following Brutal Legend, you’ll know that Activision is none too happy about EA gaining the rights to publish the game. In fact, they even went as far as asking a court to legally delay Brutal Legend after sueing the game’s developers.
Well, the final decision isn’t in yet but it looks like it’s going to be ruled in EA favors as the judge has expressed his disinterest in complying with Activision’s requests.
So, as of now, you can still expect to see Brutal Legend hit store shelves for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on October 13th of this year.
EA releases official Brutal Legend box art

We haven’t heard much about Tim Schafer’s Brutal Legend for a while now but it looks like EA has gone ahead and decided to release the above box art for said game.
Those looking to play the rock-inspiried action-adventure Brutal Legend will be able to get their hands on the Double Fine Productions developed game on October 13th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Brutal Legend Getting Non-Rocker Voice Talent
The list of voice actors for upcoming rock-influenced title Brutal Legend is unsurprisingly studded with legends of hard rock including Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead and of course Ozzy Osbourne (turn your subtitles on folks). Jack Black of course is on board to voice the main character with his bizarre synthesis of comical musician and comical actor.
Previously Ronnie James Dio was set to voice a character as well, but he’s pulled out for yet unknown reasons. Coming in as his replacement is someone without the musical background of the rest of the cast (well he can sing, but mostly about cross-dressing). Joining Brutal Legend is Tim Curry, an accomplished actor whose disinctive voice has landed him countless voice roles in video games and animated series. His notable film credits include the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Legend and Clue.
Brutal Legend Gets Release Date
Promising to “melt your face off”, developer Double Fine and EA today announced that Brutal Legend will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 13 in North America, followed by an European release three days later.
"Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome!" said Double Fine president Tim Schafer. "And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?"
The heavy metal-themed game tells the story of roadie Eddie Riggs as he enters the realm “where every Heavy Metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life.”
Rumor: Brütal Legend coming to Wii

In an interview with the founder of Double Fine Productions, Tim Schafer said that the developer is working on Brütal Legend for the Xbox 360 and PS3. However, according to Variety’s The Cut Scene, Electronic Arts is actually planning on having another developer work on the Wii version of the game. This is not an uncommon practice for publishers to undergo; multiplatform games sometimes have a separate developer for the Wii rendition of the game (e.g. Rock Band 2).
Electronic Arts has refused to comment on the rumor.

Activision Wants to Sue EA Over Brutal Legend
Fuming with rage and wielding the hammer of law, Activision Blizzard has threatened to sue EA for publishing Double Fine’s upcoming action game Brutal Legend even though the company picked up publishing rights back in December. Apparently, Activision Blizzard views the agreement as invalid due to a belief that it was still engaged in negotiations regarding the game.
Originally set to be published by Vivendi, which merged with Activision last year, the game was ditched following the formation of the new company, along with 50 Cent, Ghostbusters and The Chronicles of Riddick, all of which have found new homes.
It is being speculated that Activision wants a cash payment for the publishing rights. Meanwhile, an EA representative expressed doubt that Activision would sue, likening the situation to be “like a husband abandoning his family and then suing after his wife meets a better looking guy.”
EA Has Brutal Legend
With the integration of Vivendi Games into Activision, the future of Brutal Legend was left uncertain. Thankfully, EA came to the rescue, announcing that they will publish Tim Schafer’s heavy metal third-person action/adventure game through its EA Partners label.
“This is awesome news!” said Double Fine Productions president Tim Schafer. “The quality and creativity of the games EA Partners has been involved with make it a perfect home for our baby, Brutal Legend. Some people were starting to wonder if the saga of Eddie Riggs would ever see the light of day, but now I think it’s clear that this game, like Metal itself, cannot be killed!”
The game stars rocker Jack Black as the main character who finds himself in a fantasy world filled with heavy metal and rock folklore. It is due out for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 in Fall 2009.
MTV Not Publishing Brutal Legend
With music at its core and Jack Black playing the lead role, it seemed like Brutal Legend was a natural fit for MTV. However, Variety reports that it isn’t the case, as the company has issued a rather political statement saying the following: “We are big fans of [Double Fine chief] Tim Schafer. We hope the game finds a good home.”
The author notes that this directly contradicts what he was hearing. Nevertheless, Kotaku reports a rumor that EA will publish the game. It is yet to be confirmed by either parties.
