Nyko launches DSi camera accessory

Nyko, the master accessory maker — well, not really, but they do make a ton of accessories for games of all kinds — have released a lens attachment to the Nintendo DSi camera, which offers 8X zoom to the rather weak 0.3 Megapixel camera. But at least it works, as you can see on the image above. Won’t win you a Pulitzer in photojournalism, but at least it won’t burn your pocket; $25 is all it set your back.

Nyko brings optical zoom to the DSi

June 4th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Gear, Nintendo DSi

In case you have the urge to get 8x optical zoom with your DSi, Nyko has a solution with their upcoming Zoom Case. The case itself offers protection from surface scratches, but the main idea is to have a budging zoom lens flying out of your “portable” system.

The camera itself is detachable so it doesn’t render your DSi to look permanently ugly, but one has to question what Nyko was thinking when they created this contraption. Nyko’s Zoom Case will hit American retailers later this year from $20-$40.

Microsoft to feature Xbox 360 motion sensing hardware at E3?

We last heard of Xbox 360 motion sensing hardware early this month but it only remained a rumor up until now. It seems the Wall Street Journal has stepped in to add some fuel to the fire stating that Microsoft will probably announce the project at this year’s E3.

The WSJ also says that the hardware will be a camera that senses body movements instead of a motion sensing remote a la the Wii.

While the Wall Street Journal is a credible source this still remains a rumor until we hear the official announcement, let’s see what happens at E3.

Nintendo has launched a new DSi but it looks like it is not solely for the portable gamers. The handheld gaming system will come complete with two new built-in cameras and an SD card for saving music files. The gadget comes complete for social networking abilities and priced at $169.

Nintendo DSi handheld is compatible with all 850 titles available for the DS and is supercharged with characteristics not found in the original handheld gaming system. The device comes with two cameras and 10 different interactive lenses that can be used for snapshots. Furthermore, gamers can fully engage with other players by using the new digital camera which offers a greater interactive experience.

DSi is also ideal for social networking Web sites including Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Users can merely save photos and share them across the Internet. Nintendo designed the new handheld to provide a better gaming experience.

While the Nintendo DSi Camera is one of the most distinct features, it also comes with a complete sound application, microphone, stereo headset, and offers full voice recording solutions. Users can actually modify their voices and change the rhythm and beat of a song when utilizing the application. Music files can be saved on an SD card for better portability.

Another impressive feature is the new Nintendo DSiWare application which lets users download new software for the device. This is similar to Nintendo’s WiiWare where developers can create new applications and make them ready for use online.
