If you didn’t know Capcom charges for online Monster Hunter play in Japan, frightening right? What’s even more frightened is Capcom is pondering whether or not to charge for Monster Hunter 3 online play here in the United States.

Don’t get too scared though as virtually every other Capcom title here in the states is free to play online so they will most likely keep with the current business model and do the same with the U.S. release of Monster Hunter 3 .

The game will be out for the Wii in March of next year.

Super Street Fighter IV’s Seth “even cheaper” than before

October 20th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Fighting, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

sethssf4

We already know that Super Street Fighter IV is on its way but we don’t know much about the game’s story line. Today, Capcom’s Seth Killian sat down with Kotaku to speak about the game’s final boss; Seth.

If you’re played Street Fighter IV on the harder difficulties you’ll know that Seth is no walk in the park, utilizing just about every cheap move in the book. Well, according to Mr. Killian, the Seth in Super Street Fighter IV “will be even cheaper and more irritating”.

Luckily, all of the new characters will be unlocked out of the box so you won’t be fighting Seth over and over again like in the previous title.

Resident Evil 5 ‘Versus Mode’ DLC pack gets price reduction

residentevil5

A few months ago the Versus Mode DLC pack was released for Resident Evil 5 which added nothing more than new multiplayer game modes which had players pitting themselves against zombies and eachother. After said DLC was released gamers everywhere whined about how Capcom was charging for a feature that “should have” been included in the original game.

Lucky for them, Xbox Live is cutting the price of the pack to 240 Microsoft Points from 400 Micrsoft Points as their latest Deal of the Week.

Still don’t want to pay for new game modes? Well, that’s up to you.

GameStop listing hints at release date, price for Super Street Fighter IV

October 16th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Microsoft, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

superstreetfighter4A recent GameStop listing spotted by I Play Winner has let us know that Super Street Fighter IV will hit store shelves on March 23, 2010 for $39.99.

While this sounds about right considering the previously announced release window and the fact that it is essentially a SF4 add-on, don’t put too much stock in it as GameStop has been known for putting up estimated information as a place holder.

In other words, we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Capcom before we mark this one as confirmed.

Super Street Fighter IV teaser trailer

September 29th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Yesterday Capcom officially announced Super Street Fighter IV, a retake on the popular fighter Street Fighter IV with additional characters, and today they have released the first trailer for the game.

Unfortunately, the trailer is just a teaser and doesn’t feature any new game play or mention of the 8 new characters. However, it does feature Ken and Ryu kicking the crap out of each other in a cinematic styled similar to the one found at the beginning of Street Fighter IV.

Want more info? You’re going to have to wait until Super Street Fighter IV’s spring 2010 release date draws closer.

If you thought Capcom was going to be nice and give you downloadable characters for Street Fighter IV, you were wrong. Today, the developer has announced Super Street Fighter IV, a tweaked and improved standalone version of SF4 with 8 additional characters.

Of these characters just 3 have been officially confirmed:  T. Hawk, Dee Jay and Juri. Fans of the Street Fighter franchise will recognize T. Hawk and Dee Jay from previous titles while Juri is an all new character.

As for a release date, we’re looking at Spring 2010 for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, with no mention of a PC release date.

Okamiden TGS 2009 trailer

September 5th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Action, Adventure, Video

A trailer for Ōkamiden: Chiisaki Taiyō has popped up on the web. It’s relatively short to standard trailers, but it gives a nice glimpse to how the game looks so far. Ōkamiden is a direct sequel to the original Ōkami, although the game’s protagonist is Chibiterasu, who bares a great resemblance to Amaterasu.

The game will be hitting Japan next year for the Nintendo DS. No word on an international release as of yet.

This weekend’s deal for Steam is an offer you can’t pass up; Street Fighter IV for 50% off. This brings the game from an original $39.99 (which is already cheap compared to the console versions) down to a bargain-bin $19.99.

Now, if you haven’t already grabbed this fighter, you really don’t have an excuse not to anymore. If you’re going by our Street Fighter IV review, ignore it; that shmuck doesn’t even write here anymore. Do yourself a favor and check it out, it’s well worth the money.

Capcom working on “PC-lead” projects

September 4th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Business, Industry, PC, Software

capcom_logoUsually, Capcom develops games on console platforms, and later ports them to the PC months later. This is one of the attributing factors of the recent downfall of PC gaming.

In an interview with VG247, Capcom’s Christian Svensson revealed that there are a few development teams teams that are working on a few “PC-lead” projects. This means that the games’ development is focused around the PC. Of course, the games will be be ported over to consoles in time.

Svensson did not reveal any information about the projects, but it’s good to know that there are at least a few companies out there who still want to keep PC gaming alive.

Capcom delays Dark Void to Q1 2010

July 30th, 2009 3 Comments   Posted in PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

First Red Steel 2 got delayed, then Splinter Cell: Conviction and now this — Capcom has recently announced that they are pushing back the release of Dark Void until Q1 2010.

Below is Capcom’s reasoning on the delay:

Dark Void is moving into Capcom’s fiscal Q4 in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season and to allow the development team more time to polish and enhance the game experience.

Are game developers really that scared of Modern Warfare 2? Or do they just know something we don’t because it seems that only a handful of games are launching this Fall due to so many delays.

Bionic Commando now out for PC in US

July 28th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Action, PC

Capcom’s Bionic Commando. North American gamers can now download the game straight off of content distribution service Steam, or buy the retail disc from stores. The Steam version can be purchased with Bionic Commando: Rearmed, which also comes out today, for a $44.99.

The action platformer was released in Europe back on the 17th for the PC, along with May console releases worldwide, excluding Japan. This is one of the only instances that I can think of in which Europe received a game earlier than North America.
