Need for Speed Nitro dated for Nov. 17th

Back in May we were given a first glimpse of EA’s Nintendo Wii/DS title, Need for Speed Nitro however, at that point we weren’t sure when we would see it hit the market.

Well, EA was today informed us that the game will be hitting store shelves on November 17th for the abovementioned consoles. According to the press release this game will offer “fun and intense competition for every type of gamer”.

With Need for Speed’s tarnished past perhaps the impending releases of Need for Speed Nitro, Shift and the Criterion developed title will help bring the franchise back to greatness.

Criterion working on a new Need for Speed

Need for Speed: Undercover was nothing short of a flop but EA hopes to regain the community’s loyalty to the brand with Need for Speed Shift and Need for Speed Nitro. However, if these games still don’t prove to be a success EA has a little secret up their sleeves; Criterion Games.

Yes, the guys behind the popular Burnout franchise will in fact get their hands on a new Need for Speed instead of merging the two franchises. There’s no word on when this Criterion developed Need for Speed will come out but lets hope they do a better job than previous developers because the franchise really needs it.

Burnout Paradise’s Big Surf Island details revealed

Jeeze, the guys over at Criterion are really making haste to get every DLC pack they could think of for Burnout Paradise into consumer’s hands; this time it’s Big Surf Island.

There is no telling if the pack will introduce new cars like the previous packs but we do know that it will include 15 new events and 10 new online freeburn challenges. Criterion also hints that those looking to fully complete the game will want to find all 45 billboards scattered around the new island. Perhaps a new achievement?

According to Joystiq, Criterion says that Big Surf Island will feature a lot of “big air” when it hits. They also say that a full preview of the DLC pack is set to be revealed on May 28th.

Burnout Paradise’s Cops and Robbers pack finally priced

After seemingly forever, Criterion has finally released a solid price point for Burnout Paradise’s upcoming Cops and Robbers DLC pack – The pack Xbox Live and the Playstation Network this Thursday for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99, respectively.

Featured in the pack is an all new multiplayer gametype which has two teams fighting to obtain and return a stack of gold to their respective bases, you may remember as the mode we saw Criterion devs playing a few days ago. Also included in Cops and Robbers are 33 different police cars for you to use.

Criterion plays Burnout Paradise’s Cops & Robbers

The hype surrounding Burnout Paradise’s upcoming Cops & Robbers pack is building with Criterion recently being caught on film playing one of the new game modes.

Showcased in the above episode of Crash TV is just that, Criterion devs duking it out as cops and robbers to find and capture a pile of gold and then rushing it back to their hideout.

I don’t know about you guys but this game mode looks like it could provide me with hours of fun. Sure we know that it’s coming April 30th, but can we get an official price, please?

Burnout Paradise Patch Packs Latest DLC

burnoutparadise A new v1.1 patch for Burnout Paradise is now available, allowing gamers to purchase the latest downloadable content for the action-racer.

The update features the content needed to unlock the Legendary, Toy and Boost special vehicles – already released as paid DLC on consoles. They can be purchased from the in-game Burnout Store. The patch has to be applied if players wish to go online and have fun.

Burnout Paradise ‘Legendary Cars’ pack promo vids

Criterion has recently uploaded videos to YouTube that showcase each car from the upcoming Legendary Cars pack, for Burnout Paradise, in all of their individual glory.

These videos give you a really look at just how true to the originals these remakes stay. My favorite? The Jansen 88 Special based on the DeLorean DMC-12 time machine from Back to the Future. It even floats and leaves flaming skid marks.

Burnout Paradise Cops and Robbers Mode Announced

While the game mode was unveiled before, developer Criterion has officially announced that the next downloadable pack for Burnout Paradise will see the addition of cops and robbers-style chases.

Dubbed the “Cops and Robbers Pack”, the premium DLC will bring the “thrills and spills of cops and robbers car chases in Paradise City.” The pack is due out following the Party Pack, Legendary Cars, Toy Cars and Boost Specials Updates.

The cops and robbers mode was available in earlier Burnout games. Introduction of this mode in Paradise city is awesome, to say the very least!

Burnout Paradise Getitng Huge February Update, Restart Option

Criterion’s support for Burnout Paradise amazes me at times. The game has been out for over a year now and they are still pushing out new content for the game, and not just any content, but fun stuff! And they’re actually improving the game, too!

The developer has detailed the numerous tweaks and changes that will come with the next update for the game that is due out next month. Among the many changes is the oft-requested addition of a restart option, allowing players to try again without having to drive back to the events starting point. Other changes include improved vehicle handling and difficulty rebalancing.

Burnout Ultimate Box, Offline Mode Coming

burnout paradise Keeping up the Burnout craze, EA announced that it will release Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in February 2009. The title will feature the full version of the crash-tastic game along with all of its downloadable content and a new offline multiplayer mode, among other things.

The offline multiplayer mode is dubbed Burnout Paradise Party, letting up to eight players compete in challenges, one at a time, by passing the controller. Those who already have the game can buy the offline mode as premium DLC.

The Ultimate Box will also add a number of highly requested features, including a restart option for races, easier control of vehicles and more.

Burnout Paradise Patch Adds Trophies, No Retroactive Rewards Though

burnout-paradise A new patch for Burnout Paradise has been released by Criterion Games today, adding trophies for the PS3 version of the game. However, the trophies are not going to be awarded retroactively, despite the studio previously stating that they were “thinking ahead” with Trophy support.

A statement from Criterion notes that they tried to retroactively award trophies, but found it impossible during testing. Those who want to earn trophies will have to create a new game save.

Criterion additionally notes that this is the same with all other PS3 games out there that have been patched with trophies. Uncharted comes to mind.

Bikes in Paradise Delayed

Quite unfortunately, an update on the PlayStation Blog by Criterion producer Jeremy Chubb reveals that the content pack that will add bikes to Burnout Paradise has been delayed to September; it was originally scheduled for release later this month.

Dubbed “Davis”, the update would bring a day and night cycle and dynamic weather system to the game, as well as 70 bike-specific challenges.

A precise date for either platform is yet to be provided.
