The Agency and DC Universe Online Coming Next Year

Super-spy MMO The Agency has been sneaking around under the radar for quite a while now, but the cat is out of the bag: it will be released next year.

This was revealed by Sony Online Entertainment head honcho John Smedley, who also revealed that super-powered MMO DC Universe Online will also be released in the same timeframe.

No further details were given.

Wolfman Joins DC Universe Online

Comic book veteran Marv Wolfman has joined artist Jim Lee and writer Geoff Johns in helping Sony Online Entertainment flesh out its upcoming superhero MMO DC Universe Online.

Wolfman is best known for being the creator of Blade; he also wrote the popular cross-over Crisis on Infinite Earts for DC. He has also worked for Marvel, where he wrote issues of Amazing Spider-Man and helped co-create Black Cat with Keith Pollard. His role in the development of the game will be to expand upon the in-game storylines already created by Johns.

DC Universe Online is due out early next year on PC and PS3.

DC MMO Dropping in Early 2010

dc-universe-online.jpgIt wasn’t confirmed until now, but you can mark your calendar now: DC Universe Online, the upcoming MMO based on the DC Comics franchise, won’t hit retail until sometime around early 2010, according to the game’s lead writer.

Speaking with MTV, comics writer Geoff Johns commented on the game’s release date: “It launches I think in early 2010, it could be late 2009.”

Johns’ resume includes work on various high-profile titles including Justice Society of America, Green Lantern and Flash. He has scripted the overall story and universe of the upcoming title. He notes that players will get to delve deep into DC archives.
