Are you planning on picking up EA’s forthcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic? EA sure hopes so. Analayst Bhatia recently stopped by the EA studios to check up on the game and has reported that the developers are expectign over 2 million subscribers when the game goes on sale.

This seems a bit high but Bhatia has also said that just to break even, EA is going to need over 1 million subscribers.

I don’t know about you guys but since I finally managed to ween myself off World of Warcraft, I’m not really ready to dive into another MMO anytime soon.

The Skate series revolutionized the way we play skateboarding games, it took the Tony Hawk Pro Skater concept and pretty much blew it out of the park. Skate 3, the latest title in the series, looks to expand on that idea and give players the best skateboarding experience to date.

If you’re wondering when the game will be released, EA has just announced that it will be out in North America on May 11th and the rest of the world on May 14th. Be ready.

If you didn’t know, EA is hard at work on an MMO racer entitled Need for Speed World, most likly capitalizing on the success of the recently released Need for Speed: Shift. Well, it was recently made known that the closed beta for the game has just begun.

EA described the game as the following:

“For the first time in a racing game, players will be able to compete against any one of their friends, family or pick from thousands of top ranked players to challenge in intense online battles and police pursuits across 150 miles of sprawling open world.”

Way back in the beginning of January EA officially confirmed that they would be rebooting the NBA Jam franchise. However, up until now we hadn’t heard much about the game. Luckily, EA has just released the game’s first debut trailer giving us a pretty in-depth look at the gameplay.

Dragon Age: Origins Awakening hasn’t even hit store shelves yet but apparently someone has already gotten their hands on a retail copy. In said retail copy is a card that says Dragon Age 2 (whatever it is to be called) will hit store shelves on February 1, 2011. Could this be correct?

EA has yet to even announce a sequel to the game but already they have it dated, down to the day? Perhaps we will be hearing an official announcement for Dragon Age 2 within the next couple of days considering Awakening is set to drop on March 16th.

Sick of rhythm based music games yet? No? Good. It was just announced thanks to Harmonix’s offical Facebook page that Rock Band 3 will be made available this holiday season. Unfortunately, other than telling us that EA will be publishing the game, Harmonix has released virtually no details about its contents.

Although, they did throw in the catchy phrase that they plan to “innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2and The Beatles: Rock Band.”

Tiger Woods may be having some problems in his personal life but that hasn’t stopped consumers from anxiously awaiting Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11. While not much has been said about the game’s until now it was just announced by EA that it will in fact support the Playstation Motion Controller.

Other than that they let us know that the game will feature the Ryder Cup which lets gamers create 2 12-man teams and pit them off against eachother.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will be out for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii on June 8th.

EA has just announced that they will be the exclusive publishers of 38 Studios’ first title. no, this isn’t the previously announced MMO Copernicus but instead a game developed by Big Huge Games. What we know about this title is that it is currently codenamed ‘Project Mercury’ and will be an ‘epic single-player RPG’. It should be epic considered it’s headed by Ken Rolston, the guy behind Oblivion and Morrowind.

That’s about all we have regarding the game but expect more at this year’s GDC.

It seems that EA wasn’t kidding when they said the response to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was massive — It was recently made known that Bad Company 2 has topped the charts over in the UK. Chart-Track has broken down the sales to 3% on the box 360, 31% on the PS3 and 16% on the PC. They also said that the game’s launch was the ‘best ever for any game released this early in the year’. Seems like the recent server troubles didn’t affect people’s decision to buy the game very much.

If you’ve been trying to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the Xbox 360 online you probably noticed that there have been some connection issues. This was caused by the massive response to the game; EA was apparently under-prepared.

Anyways, EA has recently let us know via their Twitter the following:

EA server maintenance which is affecting the Xbox 360 BFBC2 is taking longer than expected. We’ll have the servers back as soon as possible.

And then:

BFBC2 are coming back online. Things will be back up to full speed within 90 minutes.

So folks, it looks like you won’t have to wait much longer until you can get your Bad Company 2 fix. I just wonder, are they going to reset the leaderboards?

Considering the original Sims and The Sims 2 had a crapload of expansions it’s no surprise that The Sims 3 is following suit. The latest of such expansions is The Sims3 : Ambitions.

Ambitions lets you follow your Sim through a variety of jobs such as a detective, ghost hunter and many, many more. Additionally, Ambitions will include a “leveraging Build and Buy mode” as an architect and the ability to give your Sims tattoos.

Expect The Sims 3: Ambitions to his store shelves this June.

Have you played Worms? If not, you’re missing out – Worms is a side scrolling turn-based shooter that has cartoon worms using a large arsenal of weapons to, well, blow each other sky high. The series itself has seen a great deal of success, spanning a large number of consoles and mobile platforms.

EA has evidentially made note of this, recently announcing that they have purchased the rights to publish Worms on mobile platforms.

Head of Team 17 (the studio behind Worms), Debbie Bestwick, had the following to say about EA’s purchase:

“As the market leader in mobile gaming, EA Mobile’s reach and breadth of partner relationships will massively help Worms’ positioning and greatly increase appeal to a new generation of mobile gamers.”

EA has come forth today and given us 10 brand new screen shots showcasing their latest skateboarding title, Skate 3. From the looks of the screenshots, like the one included above, the game will stay true to the gameplay we’ve all come to know and love in Skate 1 and 2 while adding some updated graphics and, hopefully, new tricks.

Skate 3 is due out sometime in May of this year.

Gamers who have been around since the late 90s have undoubtedly heard of Medal of Honor. It’s a Call of Duty-esque FPS set in a variety of time zones including WW2. Well now, with the popularity of games set in modern day like Modern Warfare 2 and the forthcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2, EA and DICE have decided to reboot the MoH franchise with a similar setting.

Well, with the announcement that Dead Space 2 and the next Dragon Age are set for a 2011 launch, EA has said that Medal of Honor will be launching in Q2 of 2011.

We don’t know much about the game other than the fact that it will be set in Afghanistan and, of course, be an FPS.

Dead Space fans waiting for a sequel will be happy to hear that EA has just dated the game for a 2011 release. Of course, you’re probably not too happy to hear it considering you have to wait over a year to get your hands on it. Additionally, EA has also told us that Dragon Age 2 (or whatever the sequel is to be called) will also be hitting store shelves sometime in 2011.

But that’s not all as EA has also listed the two sequels as having a future presence on “handheld platforms” which could mean anything from the DS and PSP to the iPhone and iPod touch, or all over the above.

Have you played Mass Effect 2 yet? If not, you should probably check it out as EA has just announced that the game has shipped over 2 million copies in its first week. Not only that but they have also let us know that the game has received over 40 perfect scores from reviewers across the world.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that we actually gave the game a 9/10 praising it’s engaging story and in depth gameplay.

It was recently announced that Spore Creatures has just been released to the App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that Spore an extremely hyped game that essentially lets players craft their own universe.

Well, this new game expands on that idea but lets you do it on the iPhone and iPod touch with your fingers. There isn’t much more to say about its gameplay because its the same deal: create a creature, adventure with said creature, rinse and repeat.

EA also plans on taking a swing at CoD with a Medal of Honor reboot, which, interestingly enough, looks a lot like Modern Warfare.

While the iPhone began as just a phone (among other things) the launch of the App Store really turned it into a premiere handheld gaming platform. The Palm Pre, on the other hand, hasn’t seen much love in the game department despite the fact that it too has an app store of sorts.

However, at this year’s CES, Palm has let us know that they will be commited to bringing 3D games to the platform signing on EA to develop said games. Games currently in the pipeline include The Sims 3, Need for Speed Undercover and more.

While we’ve already reviewed Dragon Age: Origins for you, EA has come forth today to announce Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, the first retail expansion for the game.

In Awakening, the player will take control of a new Grey Warden Commander in an area called Amaranthine and be pitted against all new monsters like the Spectral Dragon and Inferno Golem. Additionally, you will be able to surpass the level cap featured in the original game, collect new spells and items and party up with 5 new members.

Again, Dragon Age: Origins Awakening will be out on March 16th for $40.
