EVE Online: Dominion will focus on primarily endgame content – alliance warfare. A complete overhaul of sovereignty mechanics will occur, and new epic arcs for pirate factions will also be introduced.

The game has been around since 2003, so it’s very surprising that it’s still going strong against giants like World of Warcraft and Lineage II. Blizzard only offers paid expansions for their game, so CCP Games’ approach is a very unique one.

The MMO has seen the record of consecutive users online being broken several times this year, topping out at 53,850 players playing in the same realm.

A partnership that is aiming to push the new batch of Albatron Nvidia VGA cards is in the works. For gamers who purchase this new graphics card, free playtime for EVE Online will be rewarded to the new Albatron Nvidia VGA graphics card owner.

I suppose that’s not that bad a deal. Just seems like EVE coming with a new video card is a slightly underwhelming reason for purchasing a video card.

A monthly subscription to the MMO costs $14.95, and the retail box costs $34.95, so this means the thing will nearly pay for itself.

The studio added that the game time can be used to extend an existing subscription or be split into two 30-day codes that can be sold for in-game currency.

There will also be other extras in the box, including instant war access, exclusive career guide, VIP pass and an exclusive in-game ship.

CCP continues, adding that there is also the matter of maintaining the hardware infrastructure, as well as spending man-hours to refine and test the user client and more factors that have changed their minds on Linux support.

The studio was one of the very few developers who actually developed for Linux. Other notables include id Software and… well, no one comes to mind.

The content comes as the latest update to the game which has been running for quite some time now. It now has a complex financial ecosystem and population, with CCP recently reporting that its previous record for concurrent EVE players was broken when over 45,000 users were recorded to playing the single-shard game simultaneously.

Additionally, the developer teased some new footage of an unannounced game at its fan fest over the weekend. Eurogamer, who attended the event, noted that the video showed a “Halo-like shooter” with an EVE-like art style. It was mentioned that the studio plans on developing PS3 and Xbox 360 versions alongside the PC original.

The studio is also currently working on another MMO dubbed World of Darkness.
