Despite the fact that Final Fantasy XIII’s release date is just around the corner, there is still a dedicated community playing Final Fantasy XI, Square Enix’s first go at an MMORPG.

New FFXI DLC gets dated for presale

Square Enix has taken time away from sueing French retailers to announce that an upcoming mini-expansion for their MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI, will be made available for pre-purchase on July 5th.
The upcoming expansion is entitled A Moogle Kupo d’Etat – Evil in Small Doses, and reportedly focuses on the Moogles in the game and problems that encompass them. RandomNPC reports that a job level of at least 10 is required to start this new story line.

Three Final Fantasy XI Expansions Announced
Unveiling plans to further milk the Final Fantasy series, Square Enix has announced that three new expansion for Final Fantasy XI are in the works for release exclusively via digital distribution.
The expansions are titled as follows: A Crystalline Prophecy – Ode of Life Bestowing, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat Evil in Small Doses, and A Shantotto Ascension – The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born.
Insanely long names aaside, the expansions have been created by Masato Kato, one of the minds behind the original FFXI storyline. The first one will be available during Spring 2009, with followups scheduled to be made avialable every few months thereafter. And yes, they will be released chronologically as they are listed here.
