God of War III demo bundled with District 9 Blu-ray

If you want to get your hands on the God of War III demo, you now have another way of doing so. Of course, you’re going to have to buy the District 9 Blu-ray as it was bundled with that but who cares, it’s a kickass movie.
Alternatively you cold purchase the God of War Collection and get a code for a PSN demo download, but what fun is that?
God of War III will be out exclusively for the PS3 sometime in March of 2010.

20 games to look forward to in 2010
While 2009 is drawing to an end, and with all the great AAA titles only weeks away, keep in mind that 2010 is going to see more top-notch titles released than the last few years. Here are 20 games that should/will make an impact next year, and while a lot more games are coming out, we obviously couldn’t include them all — our list grew from ten games to twenty games simply because even we were surprised how many title are lined up for 2010. Here’s our 20 games for 2010, in no particular order.
Postal 3 (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Running With Scissors, Q2, 2010)

The original Postal was both hailed and damned for its controversial content, and the sequel, Postal 2 only made it better (or worse, if you’re a politician looking for some media attention). Postal 3 will expand on the sandbox style gameplay, and will even feature director Uwe Boll (who made the 2008 Postal movie) in a cameo role.
APB (PC, Xbox 360, March 2010)

After developing Crackdown for the Xbox 360, which has since become a cult classic on the console, Realtime Worlds shifted all their manpower to APB (All Points Bulletin), a revolutionary MMO set in a huge city where players battle each other as either law enforcement agents, or criminals. A kind of GTA online, as creator David Jones (the man behind GTA) is noted saying APB is “the bastard child of everything we’ve been striving towards over the 15-20 years”.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, March 2, 2010)

Battlefield: Bad Company almost managed to perfect something no other FPS had done before: creating a fully destructible battlefield, where walls would no longer provide infinite cover — one tank shell and you better be looking to hide somewhere else. Coupled with a single player campaign and a solid multiplayer, Bad Company has been one of the most played FPS on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Bad Company 2 will bring “destruction 2.0″, taking destruction to a whole new level, this time, entire buildings and towns can be leveled to the ground.
Heavy Rain (PS3, February 2010)

Heavy Rain has been highly anticipated ever since it was first showcased at E3 2006 for the PlayStation 3, the film-noir, thriller-styled game will feature an intertwined storyline, with four playable characters, all looking for a serial killed going under the name “The Origami Killer”.
Halo Reach (Xbox 360, Q4 2010)

The next chapter in the Halo series and Master Chief’s battle against the Covenant was unveiled at E3 2009, without any further details other than the game would be the last Halo game to be developed by Bungie. Owners of Halo 3: ODST will have a chance to check out the game’s multiplayer beta in the middle of 2010, by then we should have more details on Reach.
Red Steel 2 (Wii, February 16, 2010)

The original Red Steel was the very first Wii game that was revealed, and rode a wave of anticipation until its release — as a Wii launch title — where it showed a flawed control scheme, dated visuals and uninspiring gameplay. Red Steel 2 is said to correct all those issues, and will require (and be bundled with) the Wii Motion Plus accessory, giving it a true 1:1 control input, paving the way for some great sword fights. We sure hope so.
Crysis 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Q4 2010)

The original Crysis is still bringing even the most powerful PCs to their knees, and is still hailed as the best looking game available, at least if a tropical island is what you crave. Crysis 2 continues the story where the original left off, and will use the new CryEngine 3, creating an even more immersive world. There aren’t many details of the game yet, but one thing is for sure: start saving for a new PC rig.

God of War III was almost, sort of, an FPS

Fans of the hack ‘n’ slash aspect of God of War III will be happy to hear that the game’s Director successfully fended off the idea of changing the franchise into a first person shooter.
The idea for an FPS God of War came from SCEA Art Director Ken Feldman who said the following:
“I tried unsuccessfully to convince [Director] Stig to make ‘God of War III’ a first-person shooter. Unfortunately he didn’t see the genius in the idea.”
The genius in the idea? Perhaps you are working on the wrong game, Mr. Feldman.

Dante’s Inferno gameplay caught on film, looks awesome
Sure, God of War III won’t be making its way onto the Xbox 360 but who cares? Dante’s Inferno is!
Honestly though, if the above video is anything to go by, Dante’s Inferno is looking to give God of War III a run for its money. Said video contains never before seen gameplay from Dante’s Inferno which was developed by the guys behind Dead Space, Visceral Studios.
Unfortunately for us, Dante’s Inferno won’t hit the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC until January of next year.
12″ Akuma statue is awesome, $120

A partnership with SOTA toys and God of War III character designer Katon Callaway brings us the above masterpiece, a 12″ Akuma statue. For those who don’t know, Akuma is a popular Street Figher character with his most recent appearance being in Street Fighter 4.
This statue will apparantly be out sometime this September for $120 with statues of Cammy, M. Bison and Guile following suit shortly after. What, no Ryu?

God of War III dated

First announced during last year’s E3, God of War III has been anxiously awaited by hack-n-slash enthusiasts everywhere ever since.
However, no one was sure exactly when they would be able to get their hands on God of War III but Sony has been kind enough to step in and narrow down the release date.
March 2010. Yep, almost a full year away but just think how awesome that year of development will make the game.

God Of War I & II Coming To Blu-Ray?
I’m not sure when developers realized that people would pay extra for ‘collectors editions’ of games, but they’ve been a staple of the industry ever since. The contents vary from game to game, but ‘making of’ documentaries and soundtrack CDs are common and recently exclusive DLC has become quite popular.
Sony is gearing up their marketing machine for the impending arrival of spartan Kratos’ third console adventure, the aptly titled God of War III, which definitely warrants a collectors edition package. Sony has been polling gamers to see what people actually want from a limited edition set. Some people enjoy physical, tangible objects like tshirts and exclusive figurines while others are only interested in the bonus DLC.
The question that piques interest is when they ask what would prompt gamers to shell out the extra cash for a collectors edition. Along with relatively standard and somewhat boring options like tshirts, exclusive packaging and the like, they mention the possibility of releasing God of War I & II on a blu-ray disc. They also mention including a cinematic movie compilation from the games, either as an alternative to playing through the two previous games if you want to find out the back story or in case getting them to work on non-backwards compatible PS3s turns out to be impossible.
God of War 3 and MAG May Not Come This Year
Last week we reported that God of War 3 and MAG would be released this year – it was revealed through Sony’s press release for Killzone 2.
Now we sadly report that the aforementioned games may not come until March next year. Sony said that its numerous “groundbreaking exclusives”, including MAG and God of War 3 will arrive within the fiscal year, which doesn’t conclude until March 2010.
Basically, those games may not arrive until March 31, 2010, at the very latest. It can be noted that none of the two games were given any definite release dates so far. Additionally, it can be mentioned that all past God of War games have launched in March.
God of War 3 and MAG Arriving This Year
2009 may just be the year of the PS3, as Sony has let slip that God of War 3 and MAG are both slated to arrive this year. It was revealed through a press release trumpeting next week’s arrival of Killzone 2.
Neither game had been given a release window before this announcement. God of War 3, the latest in the beat ‘em up series, has players step into the sandals of Kratos to take down the mythological Greek gods. MAG, on the other hand, is a purely multiplayer affair, letting up to 256 players duke it out.
“[Killzone 2] ushers in an unprecedented year of titles to hit the PlayStation platform throughout the year including the blockbuster exclusives Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, inFamous, MAG, Heavy Rain, God of War III and MLB 09 The Show,” reads the release.
First God of War 3 Details
By way of a preview in Game Informer magazine comes the first solid details of the upcoming PS3-exclusive beat ‘em up – God of War 3.
The preview reveals that the franchise will continue beyond this game, but that the trilogy will have some kind of resolution. It states that series protagonist Kratos is four times as detailed – 20,000 polygons over God of War 2’s 5,000 polys. Interestingly, players will begin the game with many abilities from previous games unlocked and new weapons will provide more contrast to the standard Blades of Chaos.
Taking advantage of the PS3, up to 50 enemies can appear on-screen and can now coordinate attacks, arrange themselves in formations and jump on Kratos to weigh him down. Titans will also be enhanced, presented as “living, breathing characters,” and some monsters can now be controlled.
The game is due out sometime this year.
God of War 3 Script Running 120 Pages
The first bit of solid detail on God of War 3 comes straight from writer Marianne Krawczyk, who revealed that the script she’s working on for the game will probably run to 120 pages.
Speaking at Austin GDC, she stated that the game will have a storline that will be a “very specific three-act experience.” Krawczyk also commented on how in-game dialog and acting can be very poor. She noted that Sony is pulling out all stops for its upcoming blockbuster with proper rehearsals and readings, among other things.
Nothing much is known about God of War 3, which is expected to be out exclusively for the PS3 sometime next year or 2010.
