Godfather 2 gone gold
Godfather, part 2, released in 1974 is widely considered one of the best movies ever made. The game, Godfather 2, set for release next month, is a sequel to EA’s lukewarm 2006 action game. Although it doesn’t look like it’ll be the video game counterpart of the movie (at least in terms of success), EA is still giving its Godfather movie license another go.
EA has announced that the game has gone gold and will be released on April 7 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. A major addition to the sequel includes “The Don’s View”; an overview of the city and its activities, soon to be your activities if you’re good. Players will start off as “soldiers”, and gradually move up the ladder, eventually becoming the head of the family.
New Godfather II Trailer
Now if you like violence, the above trailer is without a doubt, for you, showcasing th hand-to-hand combat that will be featured in The Godfather II.
If this wasn’t enough for you, just keep in mind that this video barely shows the use of weapons so expect the game to be loads more violent, and even bloodier.
If you just can’t wait to get your hands messy with all sorts of mobster doings, you don’t have much longer to wait. EA’s The Godfather II is expected to ship for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in Feburary of next year, with the Wii version’s release date to be announced.
New Godfather 2 Details
The first details on the upcoming Godfather sequel were disclosed by EA. The Godfather 2 will include three distinct locations – New York, Miami and Havana – and will, most importantly, feature “The Don’s View”, an RTS-type view that will have players build, defend and expand crime rings as well as keep tabs on what rival families are up to.
The game will also include “more visceral hand-to-hand brutality” and feature other strategic options. It will also feature certain story elements from the second Godfather movie, intersecting with the story in the game. While the movie was heavy on flashbacks, the game won’t be.
The Godfather 2 is in development at EA’s Redwood Shores studio for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime next year.
The Godfather Sequel Gets Release Period
EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed at an annual investors conference that The Godfather 2, the sequel to their book to game adaptation, is expected to be released late this year or sometime early next year.
He stated that the game would be arriving at retailers “a few months” after the November release of Left 4 Dead, though he wouldn’t offer any particular dates.
The series is inspired and based upon the celebrated film trilogy by Francis Ford Coppola, who expertly converted the book into movies. The original game allows players to build up their crime empire and come in contact with characters from the films.
No platforms have been announced for the sequel yet, though PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are a must.
