Triforce added to Google logo, gets promptly removed

It seems that sometime last week an easter egg was found on Google’s homepage which you can see above. Look familiar? It should as it’s the mark of the Triforce found in the ever popular Zelda franchise.

It seems that this is the work of Zelda superfan/Google artist Susis Sahim who was tasked with designing some logos for Google. Instead of producing said logos, Sahim decided to slip in the Triforce image which was then promptly removed sometime after.

Let’s hope that Google can find the humor in this instead of giving Sahim the boot.

Jeff Huber’s position at EA somewhat explained, but not really

Remember when Google’s Jeff Huber jumped on board for EA? Well, a bit of information regarding the new position has been uncovered but beware, it ain’t too exciting.

Apparently, Mr. Huber will recieve an annual $50,000 added to his already high salary he is earning from Google. Additionally, he will be given 2500 restricted shares and the option to purchase an additional 17,500 shares for $19.46. This is all fine and dandy but it still doesn’t answer the question of exactly what Huber will be doing for EA.

Hey, I told you it wasn’t that exciting.

Google exec joins EA board

It was recently made known that Jeff Huber, SVP of Engineering over at Google, has recently taken a seat on EA’s board of directors. Huber’s dayjob includes working behind the scenes at Google working on their various Google Apps, but what could he be doing for EA?

EA CEO John Riccitiello had this to say:

“We’re thrilled to have Jeff on our board,” said John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts. “His proven track record in technology and engineering will make him a strong addition to the board.”

There’s no telling what Huber’s position will entail of now but as this story unfolds we’ll keep you updated.

Youtube to Sell Video Games

According to a Reuters report, Google-owned video-sharing site Youtube will begin to sell video games and music as part of a new advertising push.

The site will partner with Amazon, offering a button that takes users to the online retailer where they will be able to buy video games, songs and music videos. iTunes for music downloads will also be offered.

Youtube is currently the most popular video-sharing site on the internet. It was bought out by Google in 2006 for a record $1.65 billion.

Rumor: Google Buying Valve?

Citing “well placed sources,” The Inquirer speculates that Google is going to buy Valve “any second now.” The rumor has been picked up by Edge Online and MCV, among others, adding credibility to the rumor.

Apparently, Google is lusting after Valve’s Steam, a digital content delivery platform, hoping to use it for god-knows-what. Lending much more possibility of such a buyout happening is Gabe Newell (head honcho at Valve) revealing last month that the studio is approached “a couple of times a week” by potential acquirers or investors. However, Newell also said that they are “super happy” to be independent.

While Valve is yet to comment on the matter, Google has not ruled out a possible acquisition of the game developer.
