Best Buy Holds Video Game Clearance Sale
Best Buy is holding a large video game sale for most consoles like the Xbox 360, Playstation and Wii today. Prices have all been marked down to $9.99, a far cry from their original prices which started at $60.
Over 100 games are on sale, but if you don’t want to wade through the whole list, here’s a few recommendations. Xbox 360 owners could do a lot worse than C&C: Red Alert 3, Condemned 2, and Devil May Cry 4. On PS3, Pure, Guitar Hero 3, and Soul Calibur 4 are good choices. On the Wii, the selection’s not quite so good, but Samba de Amigo’s a great choice if you like off-beat rhythm games.
Just like the famed sales made by Circuit City some months back, you better get to Best Buy quick if you want to get hold of those games for a steal!

Guitar Hero III passes $1 billion mark
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has surpassed one billion dollars in sales, announced the Activision CEO, Mike Griffith, at its CES keynote on Friday. It is the first game to surpass that amount in sales.
It was only last year that the publisher announced that its flagship franchise had made one billion dollars altogether. The Guitar Hero series remains the fastest selling of all time.

Metallica Drummer Responds to Death Magnetic Complaints
Responding to complaints made by users that the Guitar Hero version of Death Magnetic is of better quality than the CD on store shelves, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich complained that he can’t “keep up with this shit”, explaining why they did what they did.
Said Ulrich: "You gotta remember, when we put out ‘…And Justice for All,’ people were going, ‘What happened to these guys, this record? … It sounds like it was recorded in a fuckin’ garage on an eight-track.’ And now ‘…And Justice for All’ is sort of the seminal Metallica record that supposedly influenced a whole generation of death-metal bands."
As for the new album, Ulrich referred Rick Rubin’s decision to sacrifice sound quality for loudness, stating that he and James Hetfield (band frontman) had “made a deal that we would hang back a little and not get in the way of whatever Rick’s vision was.”
May I remind everyone that Metallica’s albums have always sounded low quality? It has to with their ‘signature’ sound I guess. There’s no point in making such a fuss over it.
Guitar Hero Soundtrack Songs as DLC
Somewhat new tracks will be available for download tomorrow for owners of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Guitar Hero 3, Activision announced today. Dubbed the “Interscore Track Pack”, the songs are the same as those that were available to Xbox 360 owners who purchased the game’s soundtrack.
The songs are “Tina” by Flyleaf, “Carcinogen Crush” by AFI and “Putting Holes in Happiness (Nick Zinner Remix)” by Marilyn Manson. No price point was announced, but previous packs have sold for about 500 Microsoft points ($6.25).
Activision: Millions of Dollars from DLC, New Guitar Hero and Call of Duty Next Year
Speaking at the publisher’s conference call, Activision CEO Mike Griffith commented that the company expects to pull in $40-50 million dollars this year from the sale of download content on PlayStation Store, Xbox Live and the Wii Shop Channel.
Most of that money will be from selling Guitar Hero songs and Call of Duty maps. Not many tracks are available for Guitar Hero 3, but the upcoming entry is bound to fix that. Recently released downloadable content for Call of Duty 4 sold like hot cakes on Xbox Live and other download services.
The company additionally announced that it is planning to release future iterations in the aforementioned franchises during 2009. Company CEO Griffith said that the 2009 lineup will include “multiple new Guitar Hero SKUs [and] an all new Call of Duty [due to our] leapfrog studio strategy.”
New Guitar Hero and Call of Duty titles are already due out later this year.
