The details for the game are quite odd, giving players the ability to “destroy giant robots with killer riffs”. If you’re looking for a true Rock Band title, this probably won’t be your cup of tea; most of the tracks are geared for a younger audience.

Harmonix is proud to announce that later this year they will be launching for the Xbox 360 (PS3 and Wii support at a later date) what they are calling the Rock Band Network. If you’re familiar with Apple’s App Store, this is the same kind of thing.

The Rock Band Network will allow users to upload and price their own tracks which can then be downloaded by anyone with the game. Users are said to be able to price the tracks between 50 cents and $3 while getting 30% of the track sales.

This is great news for up and coming artists looking to reach a wider audience. But the question remains, will the Rock Band Network catch on like similar services or will it be met with lackluster interest? Only time will tell.

You can check out the service in more detail, here.

If you’ve been looking to get your mobile Rock Band on today is your lucky day – Harmonix and MTV games have recently released a press releasing stating Rock Band Unplugged has hit North American shelves everywhere.

Priced at $39.99, Rock Band Unplugged will allow players the chance to rock through 41 different songs (with 9 of those available on the PSN) using the PSP.

Unfortunately (or maybe I should so fortunately?) there is no instrument peripheral that serves as a controller for the game; you’re going to be using the PSP’s built in controls for this one.

Does your PSP still work? Do you know where it is? OK good because Harmonix has recently announced the entire song list set to appear in their upcoming PSP title Rock Band Unplugged. 50 songs spanning from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s are all included in the list which is viewable after the break.

Harmonix also went ahead and announced that there will be an additional 10 songs made available for download right when the game ships.

Rock Bang unplugged will hit store shelves on June 9th for $39.99. Will this be enough to make gamers blow the dust off the PSP and forgive it for its poor library of games? Probably not, but this game will most likely keep you occupied on the bus, or train, or anywhere else.

But I love Lego even more! And so, it is with great pleasure that I report on a mishap by Harmonix henchman Dan Teasdale who accidentally confirmed the existence of LEGO Rock Band during his GDC presentation.

The criminal in question – the attached slide – lists the game for release later this year. Apparently, the PDF was “sent for speech approval” and not the version that was actually showed during his GDC speech.

It appears that the game is scheduled for release sometime between the upcoming Beatles and the PSP Rock Band game.

Teasdale – you sure screwed up, man!
