Conduit Developer “Messing Around” With MotionPlus
They might have decided that the peripheral wasn’t worth integrating into their recent FPS title The Conduit but High Voltage admit that they’ve been messing around with the Wii MotionPlus and see a lot of untapped potential in it: “Whenever you see new equipment and tools to play with, that just opens up the door for all kinds of creative new ideas. I’m sure we’ll see in the next year some really cool stuff coming out on the Wii that could only work with Wii MotionPlus.”
This all comes from the mouth of producer Cameron Rains, with Rains adding that since in these early stages of the peripheral most companies are focusing on sports related titles we have yet to see the full potential of the device. That’s a pretty no-brainer statement of course, since it’s rare that any gaming system or new peripheral/control scheme is executed perfectly in its first few offerings.
In an industry where boasts and gigantic egos are fairly common it’s refreshing to see that Rains doesn’t follow it up with a claim that they’ll be the ones to deliver on it.
The Conduit goes gold, definitly shipping June 23rd

SEGA and High Voltage have just announced that their much anticipated Wii FPS The Conduit has gone gold and is ready to hit store shelves on June 23rd.
Below is the official announcement from the companies giving a short insight into the game:
SEGA and High Voltage Software are proud to announce that The Conduit has gone gold, and will ship to North America on June 23rd, 2009. A unique first-person shooter, The Conduit is an original IP featuring an intense conspiracy-laden single-player campaign that brings an unparalleled shooter experience exclusively to the Nintendo Wii™. Soon you will be able to arm yourself with an arsenal of sci-fi gadgets and high-powered weapons as you fight against aliens, rogue agents and other enemy forces. Additionally, be ready to dominate your friends from around the globe in up-to-12-person online multiplayer battles!
Conduit Developer Reveals Next Wii Game
While many gamers consider the Wii to be nothing more than a fancy toy, I think it’s an underutilized system whose potential hasn’t been delivered yet. A few developers tried the sword swinging style previously, but High Voltage, developer of the Conduit has announced their hopes to succeed where others failed with the help of Wii Motionplus.
Their next game after the Conduit is released will be Gladiator A.D., a brutal title which says that it takes its inspiration largely from recent film 300, meaning that we’ll probably see a decent amount of stylized blood and some slow-motion.: “The concept for Gladiator A.D. is to recreate the brutal fighting and high tension of the gladiatorial arenas of ancient Rome,”
As you might expect you’ll be fighting via slashes and stabs of the Wiimote and there’ll be multiplayer as well as several different story lines based on which gladiator you choose. Plotlines will be affected by your choices as after you defeat an opponent you’ll have the option to either kill them or leave them alive. Each character is more than just a slightly different story and background. They’ll all feature customizable equipment with a wide range of weapons and armor, some of which will be unique to each character. Two that have been mentioned so far are a druid and a Egyptian noble girl.
The combat system is still gesture based though, so this isn’t the true 1:1 fighting game that many have been hoping for, but it certainly seems to have the potential to be one of the next big hardcore Wii titles.
The Conduit gets dated; Wii owners in for a treat

Finally, a game that makes me want to dust off my Wii — Ever since a video for The Conduit was released showing that the Nintendo Wii could actually handle a graphically intensive FPS, Wii owners have been anxiously awaiting a release date.
Well, the day has come; Sega has recently announced that High Voltage’s The Conduit will hit store shelves on June 23rd. I’m excited, are you?

New Conduit Video Demonstrates The Wii’s Graphical Power
While it might have taken a while, the Wii has a title that is focusing on delivering an experience for core gamers. High Voltage Studios’ The Conduit employs several graphical techniques that are often only used while referring to a Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 title. In case using the words “Wii” and “graphics” in the same sentance is a little hard to wrap your head around, High voltage released a video demonstrating just what they can accomplish on the Wii. I have to say, it is quite impressive.
