Sony responds to Activision’s threat

A while back, Activision threatened Sony that they would stop supporting the Playstation if they didn’t drop its price to a more reasonable point. Following this threat, Capcom responded by saying they won’t be dropping the Playstation because, well, it’s another chance for them to make money.

Finally, Sony main man Howard Stringer has stepped in to respond to Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick:

He certainly likes to make a lot of noise, I lose money on every PlayStation I make

It’s not much, but it’s certainly a statement. Let the war begin!

Sony CEO: "Wii has Better Business Model"

1211_howard_stringer The Wii is the current market leader and other companies are beginning to realize they should followed Nintendo’s steps in providing cheaper consoles and easily accessible games.

In fact, Sony CEO Howard Stringer praised Nintendo, confessing that the Wii “may be a superior business model” in an interview with German news outlet Die Welt.

“The major difference lies in the fact that Nintendo makes money with the hardware alone,” he said.

Stringer also talked about recovering the money it spent on the PS3, noting that “it will certainly take some time,” stressing that the company is now making more money on games than it is losing on hardware sales.
