Earlier today we let you know that a petition for dedicated Modern Warfare 2 servers has garnered over 100,000 signatures. Now, Infinity Ward’s Jason West and Vince Zampella has come forth to comment on the petition and frankly, they aren’t having.

Apparently, instead of catering to the “modders and tuners” they are focusing on the player experience and trying to make it legit as possible. In fact, the two have said that they have received a large amount of complaints regarding cheating in Call of Duty 4 and the inability to find a server without a cheater.

So petitioners, blame it on the cheaters for no dedicated servers.

No demo for Modern Warfare 2 in the works

Considering it’s massive scale (in terms of hype and such) you would think that Infinity Ward would want as much beta testing as possible for Modern Warfare 2 but it’s seems like they have got said testing covered in house.

A tweet posted up on Infinity Ward’s twitter today notified us of the unfortunate news:

@FTGDS No plan for a Demo before launch. The entire team is focused on polish all the way up to ship of the full game. (via @fourzerotwo)

Now if there are bugs in the game we can blame Infinity Ward instead of a careless beta tester. Woo!

Modern Warfare 2’s Capture the Flag caught on video

September 2nd, 2009 No Comments   Posted in FPS, Media, PC, PlayStation 3, Shooter, Xbox 360

One of the most well known and loved game modes, Capture the Flag, was absent from Call of Duty 4 which led gamers to believe that Modern Warfare 2 would also abandon the mode.

Luckily, Infinity Ward has recently released the above trailer showcasing the new game mode and boy does it look like fun. Of course, this gives us another opportunity to drool over the beautiful visuals and every other amazing aspect featured in this highly anticipated title.

If you already find it hard to wait until Modern Warfare 2’s November 10th release date I suggest you don’t watch the above video as it will make the wait even harder. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Modern Warfare 2’s release is right around the corner, but Infinity Ward is still updating Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The 1.40 patch focuses on eliminating the recent hacking issues for the PlayStation 3. No official patch notes have been released yet. Unfortunately, the patch is currently only out for North America; a European release has yet to be scheduled.

Modern Warfare 2 will be out on November 10th for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Modern Warfare 2 to feature duel wielding

August 31st, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Events, Free, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

It wasn’t until Halo 2 that the franchise saw the ability to duel wield appear so it would only make sense that Infinity Ward would do the same with Modern Warfare 2. That’s right, you will now be able to duel wield weapons in the highly anticipated title using the Akimbo perk.

The above screen shot was taken at the Games Crazy Con that recently went on in Las Vegas where Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling took the main stage to give us a live demo of the game. Sure, the screen shot is blurry but you can definitely make out duel wielded Desert Eagles if you look close enough.

Not to mention the below Tweet from Bowling’s Twitter:

Just walked off stage. Crowd was amazing, went insane chanting “pick it up!” when I stumbled over Dual-wield Deagles. lol – Akimbo confirmed

Modern Warfare 2 will hit store shelve for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 10th of this year.

Call of Duty 1 on Xbox Live and PSN ‘eventually’

July 31st, 2009 2 Comments   Posted in DLC, Microsoft, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that both the Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition and Prestige Edition comes with a token for a digital download the original Call of Duty (now called Call of Duty: Classic).

Well, it looks like those who want just Call of Duty 1 and not Modern Warfare 2 have some time to wait as Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward has commented on the classic’s public availability:

“Prestige and Hardened Edition buyers will be getting access to Call of Duty: Classic first. It’ll eventually be coming out for both Xbox Live Arcade and PSN as a stand-alone arcade game.”

That could mean days or possibly even months after Modern Warfare 2 is released. Alternatively, you can just hop on Amazon.com and purchase the original PC game for under $12. Now that’s a bargain!

Modern Warfare 2 will have a 600p resolution?

July 28th, 2009 3 Comments   Posted in PC, PlayStation 3, Software, Xbox 360

After we got word that Halo 3: ODST would feature a non-HD resolution of 1152×640 we’d think that Modern Warfare 2, being the game that it is, would feature at least a 720p resolution. However, we were wrong.

Pixel counters have reportedly found out via Modern Warfare 2 screenshots that the game will in fact run at 600p, or 1024 x 600, which is the same resolution that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ran at.

Dont’ fret, however, as Modern Warfare 2 will still feature beautiful visuals which became evident thanks to the recent HD multiplayer video Infinity Ward let us check out.

Gaming community blackmails Infinity Ward over MW4 domain name

July 28th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Culture, FPS, Offbeat, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Now here’s something you don’t see everyday — It seems that a gaming communtity by the name of Ziip got their hands on the domain name modernwarfare4.com and decided to blackmail Infinity Ward for its use.

No, they aren’t asking for a large sum of money but instead a copy of Modern Warfare 4 for each member of their community.

How will Infinity Ward respond to this? Well, they will most likely just use a domain name like codmodernwarfare4.com which will redirect to modernwarfare4.infinityward.com like they did with Modern Warfare 2.

But wait, what happened to Modern Warfare 3?

First Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer footage revealed

Infinity Ward has released the first multiplayer footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, introducing the AC130 killstreak reward. The game looks absolutely stunning, and miles ahead of the first Modern Warfare title.

I was worried that the single player modes would be heavily concentrated on in the sequel, potentially sacrificing on the improvements to the multiplayer aspect of the game. The first game’s single player campaign was very short, which is in contrast with the multiplayer’s long lifespan which lives on to this very day.

Modern Warfare 2 will be released worldwide on November 10th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Pre-order Modern Warfare 2 at Amazon and get $10 credit

July 16th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in FPS, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

On Tuesday, we got the prices for the Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition and it turns out that we’re not so happy about the impact these special editions are having on our wallets. And who can forget about the Prestige Edition, complete with night vision goggles, which costs $150.

Fortunately, CheapyD from CheapAssGamer brings us some relief with a promotion over at Amazon, offering $10 store credit for reserving any of the versions.

So, if you’re really planning on investing on those goggles, Amazon is probably the best way to get the game. If you’re looking for even more of a bargain, then you’re going to want to combine it with a 50% off trading promotion, along with Amazon Prime.

MW2 Hardened Edition to cost $80, Prestige Edition price still unknown

July 14th, 2009 6 Comments   Posted in FPS, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Earlier today we gave you a glimpse at what the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition will look like when it’s made available on November 10th. However, we were left without a price point for the NVG touting bundle.

Well we now know that the lesser special edition, the Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition, will sell for $80. Considering all that you’ll get with the Hardened Edition is a steel case, art book and Call of Duty 1 XBL/PSN download token, you can get an idea of comparison.

Is anyone out there still going to purchase the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition even if it costs $150? What about $200? Knowing Activision, it’s likely to be up there.
