Anyways, the iPhone version of Rock Band will feature 20 tracks several game modes including multiplayer and the ability to play as the guitar, bass, vocals and drums just as we had reported to you previously.

And, of course, if 20 tracks aren’t enough for you, you can always purchase additional tracks through the App Store.

Rockstar just announced that Beaterator would be hitting the App Store for the iPhone/iPod and already they have announced that another one of their titles will also be making the jump. However, this one is a bit more exciting as it is GTA: Chinatown Wars.

“Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple’s new gaming platforms.”

Just like Beaterator, there was no mention of a price but we’ll keep you updated as the story unfolds.

After all the teasing by LucasArts, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition has finally hit the App Store today. This means you can download the game for both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

According to the publisher, the portable version has the same improvements as the Xbox Live and PC versions of the game, including new visuals, voice acting, etc. I’m sure that there will be a few minor differences between the ports, seeing as the iPhone OS capability isn’t as powerful as its counterparts, but it’s still the game we all love.

The iPhone has proven itself time and time again to be a viable gaming platform so it’s no surprise that Capcom has announced the future availability of Resident Evil 4 on the Japanese App Store.

Unfortunately for us American gamers there was some worry about whether or not it would ever make its way over seas to our App Store. Luckily, Capcom has announced that after Resident Evil 4 hits the Japanese App Store later this month it will then make its way to App Stores across the world.

With games like Doom already out on the App Store along with Resident Evil 4’s recent announcement it only leads us to question what developer will release a port of their flagship titles next.

After the break there is a video demo of the game thanks to Pocketgamer.

It was recently announced that EA has opened a brand new micro-studio entitled 8 lb Gorilla.
EA hopes that 8 lb Gorilla will be able to release 99-cent titles onto the App Store on a semi-monthly basis. The micro-studio’s debut game will be entitled Zombies & Me (trailer above) in which players will take control of Guy as he attempts to protect his grandma from an onslaught of zombies.

Will some of these games be crappy? Most likely, but with EA and 8 lb Gorilla releasing them so quickly they are sure to stumble onto at least one good title.

Will id Software’s intuitive utilization of the iPhone platform have other big game developers doing the same? Perhaps an iPhone version of Halo? Hey, I can’t dream, can’t I?

A short time ago EA announced that iPhone and iPod Touch owners could get a little hint of what was to come in the Mass Effect sequel by downloading a prequel game called Mass Effect Galaxies.

Now we find out via AppGamer that if you play through the game it gives you an option at the end to log in with your EA account. If you do, you get this message: “Your reward for completing the game is already waiting for you in Mass Effect 2“. I’m sure EA is hoping the story will spread and prompt some people to buy the iDevice game, but I somehow dbout that it’s anything terribly exciting, possibly a new skin or some minor perk or stat boost.

Mega-game-retailer GameStop has recently announced that those who pre-order Madden NFL 10 for either the Xbox 360 or PS3 will get access to an exclusive demo towards the end of July. Regardless of when you pre-order the game the demo codes won’t be made available until July 15th. Said demo will feature 4 5-minute quarters with the Pittsburg Steelers and Arizona Cardinals as the playable teams.

Considering the loyal following of the Madden NFL series, this promotion probably wasn’t necessary but is a welcome one. For those of you who don’t know the latest rendition of the game, Madden NFL 10, will be out for the Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Xbox 360, PSP, iPhone/iPod Touch, Wii and Nintendo DS on August 14th.

The above trailer does a great job showing off the game-changing visuals featured in Doom Resurrection but it also reveals something to us that was before unknown; Doom Resurrection will be an on-rails shooter.

So, just like Dead Space: Extraction for the Wii, players will not be able to run around in a true 3D environment but instead be restricted to a pre-set path. Oh well, at least it has cool graphics, right?

Game Crazy has just released a previously unannounced app to the App Store for use with both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

According to the app’s description users will be able to see when new titles are set to come out along with viewing high-resolution trailers of said new titles. Additionally, users will be able to find out how much used game trade-ins will be worth so they can see if its worth it before they get to the store.

This app is definitly a welcome addition to the App Store and is sure to garner some internet. Unfortunately I don’t have any Game Crazys around me but does anyone want to make a bet on how long until Game Stop releases an identical app?

According to VentureBeat, id Software is gearing up to launch a “true next-generation” iPhone game next week which is none other than Doom Resurrection. Also according to the article this new game will feature 3D graphics unmatched by any game currently on the App Store.

While the game’s development was relatively easy considering they were able to take textures from Doom 3 and port them to the iPhone, it wasn’t all peaches. id Software’s Jack Carmack says that deep into development him and his team were forced to redo much of the “core shooting/aiming” mechanics included in the game.

Doom Resurrection will hit the App Store complete with 8 full levels making up for 5 ful hours of gameplay. Considering the game will run flawless on current-gen iPhones and iPod Touchs, just imagine when it is played on the iPhone 3G S. Yeah, I think Sony and Nintendo really have a new competitor thanks to Apple.

Since the launch of the iPhone and iPod Touch Apple has pointed to the high volume of games and other applications being downloaded as a sign that the devices are the wave of the future. Many Apple spokesmen have come out and claimed that the iPhone is going to drive the DS and PSP off the market altogether.

There’s a wide range of pricing for applications on the digital distribution store; many apps are free while many others charge a mere few dollars. Some games charge more and there are some more functional apps that can cost as much as twenty to thirty dollars. The marketplace is incredibly hyped with stories of people making small fortunes on the sweat of their brow (or fingers) being talked about as if everyone’s doing it.

Unfortunately according to a successful appstore developer, it’s not exactly the gold mine everyone’s hoping for. Developer Rick Strom has several applications that are highly ranked, including one which is #34 on the social networking listing. He points out to the public that there was a general ‘race to the bottom’ as soon as the app store debuted. After all when you’re looking for a tower defense game or movie listing application, why pay five dollars when there’s one for less than a buck, or even better, completely free? Though Apple boasts incredible numbers of downloads, they haven’t said how many of those downloads are of free applications.

While there are some people making money from hard work and successful apps, Strom points out that it’s like winning the lottery: the potential is there for it to happen to anyone, but more likely you’re going to walk away disappointed.
