MapleStory admins displeased with home-run servers

It’s no surprise that for every RPG out there, there is going to be a slew of users who decide to run their own private servers. MapleStory is no different, but not if AsiaSoft (one of the game’s distributors) has anything to do with it.
A 16-year old named Sean Lee who runs a private server is apparently one of the reasons for the crackdown, who says he’ll cease operations if he’s given a warning.
It looks like that warning may come sooner than he may have hoped as they plan on going straight to the servers’ ISPs
‘We are currently working with developers to take action against the service providers of private servers,’ said Mr Ng Kok Khwang, marketing director of AsiaSoft Online

7-Eleven and Nexon form alliance

7-Eleven sure likes endorsing games, recently announcing their deal with Nexon creator of popular free MMORPG Maple Story.
Starting immediately, until December 31st, 7-Eleven will carry 7 different slurpree cups, all featuring one of Nexon’s free games.
The real prize however is the DVD you get for buying one of these Slurpees which includes Maple Story, Combat Arms, Mabinogi, and Sugar Rush.
Then again, you can just download these games for free, but what do I know.

Woman Arrested for Deleting MMO Character
A 43-year-old Japanese woman logged into her MapleStory account to find that she had been “divorced” from her virtual husband. She then logged into her ex-husband’s account and deleted his character.
The woman was arrested on Wednesday and faces charges of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data. She could face up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines if convicted. “I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry,” she said. MapleStory is a free-to-play MMORPG for the PC that relies on micro-transactions for revenue.
