Sony will be at Comic-Con showing off their new portable version of LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation Portable. In addition to the game being fully playable, Sony has lined up two LBP Super Creators at their booth

As a special treat, LBP Super Creators gevurah22 (Azure Palace) and Darknessbear (LittleDeadSpace) will be at the PlayStation booth to chat with any aspiring LBP creators to give creator tips or just to walk folks through some of their favorite User Generated Levels.

Along with some fun with these famous creators, prizes will also be offered. The PSP version of LBP will be released this fall and will feature new levels and content. This year’s Comic-Con will be held at the San Diego Convention Center during July 23rd through 26th. But if you’re so fortunate enough to be there, I’m sure you already know that.

We have been hinted at a Ghostbusters DLC pack coming to LittleBigPlanet for some time now with the Japanese LittleBigPlanet website confirming the fact. However, we didn’t know when the pack would hit the States or at what price.

Well today, SCEA has let us know that the Ghostbusters LittleBigPlanet DLC pack will be coming to the States this Thursday priced at $1.99 for individual costumers or $5.99 for all 4 along with some bonus stickers.

As you can see above, the pack will feature the Puft Marshmallow Man, Slimer, a costume rendition of the Ghostbusters logo and of course the Ghostbusters themselves. But wait, there’s only one? What about the other three?

The cute and popular PS3 platform game Little Big Planet is getting a web-based portal for users to share their maps on.

The new web portal was revealed by developer Media Molecule in a game conference in Malmo, Sweden, where players will be able to share and promote their levels. Each level will be given a link to the download, which will then be easily shared on the PS3.

The portal will also feature statistics, leaderboards and create custom apps for services like Flickr and Google Maps. The new portal is in testing and is expected to launch later this year.

How will they transfer the user-creation and social aspects of the game to the small screen? That’s one question everyone has on their minds right now.

Keeping that in mind, developer Media Molecule has revealed that it plans on keeping the game’s concept of user-created content as a central feature in the PSP version.

"There is a whole play, create, share component to the game, just like the PS3," said Sony director of hardware marketing John Koller. "They are still working on that, so there’s not a whole lot to talk about yet."

Koller added that they are looking to implement some sort of PSP/PS3 integration, though nothing is set in stone as of yet.

"Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible," wrote a SCEA representative on the PlayStation Blog.

The PS3 exclusive platformer was developed by Media Molecule. It is one of the most highly anticipated titles this year.

Interestingly, Media Molecule was ready to solve the problem with a day-one patch, but Sony interfered, deciding that the “right thing to do for quality and support of people with no online was to replace existing disks.”

As you can see from the screenshot above, the MGS4 hero and the FF7 villain have been transformed into cute sack figures. It’s kinda unnerving to see a smiling, cute Sephiroth, but damn it’s still cool!

"To be involved with [Metal Gear Solid] is… slightly bizarre. When we were looking at what options as a studio we’d have to work with, they were under the ‘yeah, right!’ category of games," said Alex Evans, co-founder of developer Media Molecule.

A PSP version just might come true someday.

"There’s definitely scope for a PSP version," said Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy. "We’ve had discussions and talks, [but] nothing concrete at the moment."

Healy talked further about the possible game, detailing a few ideas he has for it: "It’d be great to make, for the people who are really into the Create side, some kind of companion products that allow you to create things while you’re on the train. One thing that I’d love to add is the ability to create your own music, for example, that you can import into the game. That seems like an obvious one to do and it’d be quite easy really."

He added that if the game were to be made, it would have to done by somebody other than Media Molecule because they have been “very keen to keep this very tight core of people.”

Apparently, the company even met with Valve, which suggested the two work on the game together.

"We were very tempted," said studio co-founder Alex Evans. "But in the end we decided to talk to Sony and they just got the game at the beginning."

Portal was developed by Valve and offered as part of the Orange Box compilation. It was inspired by Narbacular Drop, an indie game from 2005, the creators of which now work at Valve.

LittleBigPlanet is due out exclusively on the PS3 later this month.

The game is still on track for launch on October 21, with the online coop mode to be added through the game’s first major update, due sometime after its retail release.

"The ability to create with your friends online will come as part of the first major update after the game is released," reads a post by the developer on Sony’s PlayStation forums. "Offline creating with up to 4 people on one PlayStation 3, however, is available right from the get go."

The post noted that all other aspects of the game, including offline and online multiplayer features are present.

Speaking to CVG, Smith said that the team at Media Molecule plan to closely watch the game’s user-created level marketplace for talented designers.

“We will be aware of who those awesome designers are and certainly there’s the potential to get them building levels as part of [the] team,” he said

He noted two possibilities of recruiting and rewarding players. One would be to get the “top ten guys and commission them to make some amazing stuff for us,” he noted, additionally pointing out that if someone is lucky enough he/she might become a real game designer.

LittleBigPlanet is expected to hit the PS3 exclusively next month. It is being prepped as a big title by Sony.
