Priced at $399.99, just as I said yesterday, this bundle will be very enticing for want-to-be PS3 owners waiting for Sony to lower the price. But wait, what if Sony does lower the price? Or what if they release the PS3 slim?

If the above pictures are anything to go by, Best Buy is gearing up to launch a 80GB PS3 bundle that will include both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

According to Joystiq, Best Buy employees have confirmed the bundle to be real and that it will feature a $399 price point just like the normal 80GB system. This is quite the enticing deal to those who have yet to purchase a PS3 and are looking to.

Perhaps Sony is looking to push more PS3s out the door to make way for a cheaper model. Or perhaps, the PS3 slim?

While the announcement is entirely in Japanese, we do know that the update will be entitled Scene Expansion and include a new multiplayer map called Icebound Inferno. You may recognize Icebound Inferno as it closely resembles the Shadow Moses level found in Metal Gear Solid 4. Additionally, Scene Expansion will give players the chance to choose Old Snake as an online playable character.

There’s no word on when the Scene Expansion update will hit for Metal Gear Online but we will be sure to keep you posted.

Yesterday we found out what the Metal Gear Arcade’s hardware would look like and now we know what the its gameplay will look like.

If you didn’t know Metal Gear Arcade is basically just Metal Gear Solid 4’s online component. The different with the arcade version, however, is that you will be using a new kind of controller specifically designed for this application along with the fact that its completely in 3D. So yes, you will be wearing some kind of 3D glasses goggles while playing this game.

Still no word on if Metal Gear Arcade will ever hit American arcades but it is set to his Japanese arcades sometime later this year.

MGS 4, released to much critical acclaim, managed to sneak over 1 million copies to US homes last year. Almost 75% of its sales happened during the month of June – when it was launched – with the rest coming in the second half of the year.

Hideo Kojima listen up: Sony has declared war on your beloved franchise! The company has announced that it expects Killzone 2 to match if not surpass the sales of Metal Gear Solid 4 when it ships next month.

A Sony spokesperson had this to say: “It would be a lie to say Sony has not invested heavily in Killzone 2 and each individual at Guerilla games has worked even harder to satisfy any expectations kept by the company and their loyal community. I do see the game breaking a barrier with a huge variety of groups and expect it to see sales as good as Metal Gear Solid 4 if not beyond it.”

Well, Sony has surely been hyping up the game for quite some time now, but it can be pointed out that the MGS franchise is a rather old one and its fanbase is much larger than that of Killzone, the first of which flopped.

The first thing gamers knew about Metal Gear Solid 4 as it neared its release date was that the game would have epic-length cut-scenes. Now, it appears Hideo Kojima, creator of the series and director of the recently released game, has expressed regret at the epic volume of cut-scenes in the game, as well as his decision to make them non-interactive.

“Yes, I put everything in the cut sequences, which I kind of regret to some extent,” he said, adding that “maybe there is a new approach I should think about.”

Kojima then goes on to state that putting interactive cut-scenes that has become the recent trend in the games industry would have made it difficult for him to tell a story. “If I make multiple storylines and allow the users to select which story, this might really sacrifice the deep emotion the user might feel,” said the man. “When there’s a concrete storyline, and you kind of go along that rail, you feel the destiny of the story, which at the end, makes you feel more moved.

“But when you make it interactive – if you want multiple stories where you go one way or another – will that make the player more moved when he or she finishes the game? These two points are really the key which I am thinking about, and if this works, I think I could probably introduce a more interactive storytelling method.”

In related news, a fifth game in the series has been confirmed.

It may have been confirmed since the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, but Kojima Productions employee Ryan Payton, who served as a producer on the game, has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 5 is on the way.

Leaving Kojima Productions for greener pasture, he revealed that “it’ll be hard not being involved in MGS5, but I’ve got the utmost confidence that Hideo Kojima, Ken Imaizumi and our amazing team will put together another blockbuster game.”

With the sequel years away, let’s focus on MGS4, on which many flamewars erupt in forums netwide, with gamers fighting over whether the game will be making its way to the Xbox 360.

Raining on the parade, Hideo Kojima reveals that “because [it] was optimized for the PS3 it is probably not possible [on the Xbox 360]“. He cited media and technology differences, among other things. He also seems annoyed at people for this reason.

“What kind of disturbs me sometimes, because a lot of people ask me about this PS3/360 question, is that it’s not about the hardware,” he said. “I want people to look at the game itself. Sometimes I even feel like it should be on a PC so that people don’t ask me about hardware and platforms.”

Konami revealed that the game moved three million units since its June 12 debut, pushing their PS3 business to 57.3% of its total sales in the quarter ending June 30. The figure is a massive improvement over the same period last year where PS3 sales accounted for just 1.3% of sales. The company added that sales of the game are still “steadily increasing.”
