Sega confirmed today that Virtua Tennis 2009 will be taking advantage of the Wii MotionPlus technology. The accessory will allow players to have more responsive and accurate control of the game. In this case, players will be able to control their tennis racket more accurately.

How Virtua Tennis will compare to EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis will be interesting, but I’ll be rooting for Sega’s creation, only because the past games have been received so well.

Virtua Tennis 2009 will be hitting the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PC on May 19th.

If you thought that Nintendo would ship their Wii MotionPlus addon in a dainty little box, boy were you wrong.

As you can see above, Nintendo will ship the product nested in an updated version of the rubber sleeve. Those who share my distate in the rubber sleeves will be happy to hear that it will be easily removable.

However, this is probably great news for those of you prone to sending your Wiimotes hurtling at the TV as there will be no need to contact Nintendo for one of these sleeves. If you purchase the MotionPlus, that is.

It was recently announced that EA’s upcoming Wii titled, Dead Space: Extraction will in fact use the new MotionPlus technology.

But what will it be used for? Considering the game is an FPS and the Wiimote has pretty much no problem interpreting basic aiming, is the MotionPlus really necessary?

Well, maybe there will be other weapons in the game like a crowbar or something of the sort that would take advantage of the MotionPlus technology. I guess we’ll have to wait and find out when it ships at the end of this year.

It was recently confirmed that Sega’s upcoming Virtua Tenis will make use of Nintendo’s semi-new MotionPlus hardware.

But what does this really mean? Well it means a much more realistic tennis game is in the works and will be hitting your Wii sometime in the future. Too bad release date and even the developer of the new Wii Virtua Tennis is under wraps.

The company noted that it has secured an exclusive deal to feature the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where Wimbledon is played. No other details were given.
