PETA displeased with upcoming Ringling Bros. Wii title

PETA’s is at it again, this time setting their sights on Take-Two and their upcoming Ringling Bros. video game for the Nintendo Wii.

For those unfamiliar with the organization PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and they do just that, make sure people are treating animals correctly. And, as you’ve sure to have heard, Ringling Bros. and pretty much every other circus out there has evidence against them to prove their mistreatment of animals. So, PETA sent out an announcement that included the following quote:

I was shocked to hear that Take-Two is partnering with Ringling Bros. to create a circus-themed video game. Video games might be a fun way to pass the time, but circuses are no fun for animals. Ringling has a long history of animal abuse and neglect. To get elephants to “perform,” Ringling Bros. rips babies away from their mothers and stuffs them into poorly ventilated boxcars…

As Destructoid points out, Take-Two is likely to showcase the fun in a circus, not the animal cruelty. In reality, PETA should be working against the real problem, Ringling Bros., not a perfectly harmless video game.

PETA Invading World of Warcraft

PETA_logo Those animal-lovers at PETA are now invading the realm of World of Warcraft to launch their new propaganda campaign against Canadian seal hunters.

The campaign will apparently draw a parallel between the in-game slaughter of seals by Horde characters and the real-life hunting of seals in Canada.

"Thrall refused to ban the slaughter of seals, despite multiple requests from the Alliance to do so, because Orgrimmar stands to make a large profit from the fur," wrote PETA.

They will stage a violent assault on the game’s seal-populated Howling Fjord zone soon.

Fable 2 is PETA’s most animal-friendly GOTY

PETA has stepped away from criticising games like Cooking Mama and has instead decided to reward games for celebrating non-animal cruelty.

The organization has awarded Lionhead Studios’ Fable 2 with the title of Most Animal-Friendly Video Game, quite a braggable title.

Below is PETA’s reasoning behind awarding Fable 2 with the title:

Created by Microsoft Game Studios, Fable 2 is a vegetarian’s dream come true. Why? In this virtual fight between good and evil, characters powered by tofu are just as powerful as their meat-eating counterparts—and are more fit and attractive to boot. Featuring a strong pro-vegetarian theme, eating a plant-based diet helps you rack up “purity” points, whereas eating meat makes your character fat and evil. A fun and innovative game, it’s also an effective tool that teaches gamers the real-life benefits of a vegetarian diet.

So there you have it, thanks to the in-game ability to eat tofu and the “strong pro-vegetarian theme”, Fable 2 is PETA’s Most Animal-Friendly Game of the Year.
