We already know that Battlefield 1943 was nothing less than a huge success but EA has given us some exact numbers today. Since the game went live on July 8th there have been over 600,000 copies of the game purchased digitally apparantly setting a new record.

Producer of the game, Gordon Van Dyke, speaks of the success below:

“We are honoured by the reception that the game has received so far. Watching and participating in this non-stop multiplayer action has been a real treat for us and we can’t believe how fast our fans reached 43 million kills. We can now truly say that we have set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category and gamers recognize the endless value that Battlefield 1943 provides for just $15.”

Now that Battlefield 1943 has proven its worth I think its safe to say that EA will pull an Activision and release countless titles that mimic its gameplay.

Monster Hunter is widely known to be a huge success, especially in Japan, but I doubt anyone could have predicted the exact scale of said success.

Capcom is excited to announce that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has sold 3.5 million copies in Japan. Not only is that a huge feat, but it’s a record; the only PSP game ever to hit the 3.5 million copy mark.

With Monster Hunter Freedom Unite only recently hitting retail in the US it’s still to be decided if American gamers will take to it like the Japanese.

It’s been well known that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been the single most anticipated Wii title since before it’s official announcement almost two years ago. The title was finally released, in America as well as Japan, a little over a week ago. So what does Nintendo have to show for it? According to a recent report, they actually have quite a lot. Not only does Nintendo sell approximately one hundred and twenty copies a minute (which means they sold under another hundred in the time it took to read this), but the game is the fastest selling Wii game ever. Wait, it gets even better. Not only is it the fastest selling Wii title, but Super Smash Bros. Brawl is in fact Nintendo’s fastest selling title to date, selling over 1.4 million in the U.S.A since the game launched. I might be going out on a limb here, but I think it’s likely that we’ll see a fourth title in the Super Smash Bros. series announced sooner or later.
