August 13th, 2008 by Rajiv Ashrafi in Action, PC, RPG

diablo 3 Fret not gamers, for Diablo 3 won’t be the end of the series. Developer Blizzard has disclosed that it has “plans beyond” the upcoming game for more Diablo titles, though it does not offer any details.

“We’re not saying [Diablo III] is the end of the Diablo universe, but we are trying to bring this storyline to a close,” said lead designer Jay Wilson. “It’s not just Diablo III–we’ve got plans beyond.”

Wilson also revealed that the game will feature several characters from the first two titles, including Deckard Cain. He also notes that there will be characters from some of the books.

Diablo 3 is expected to be released sometime next year exclusively on PC.

Fable 2 Gets Dated

August 7th, 2008 by Jeff Baker in News

While we were already told at E3 that we would see the Xbox 360 exclusive RPG Fable 2 sometime this October, the actual release date wasn’t solid. Well, it is now known that North America will see Fable 2 October 21st, the UK will see it the 17th, and Australia the 25th.

Fable 2 will take place 500 years after the original game, incorporating an all new dynamic world and enough features to fill a novel.

Golden Sun DS?

April 22nd, 2008 by Gibran Nawaz in Adventure, News, Nintendo DS, RPG, Rumor

Golden Sun, considered one of the best original role playing games on the Gameboy Advance, could be seeing another sequel for the Nintendo DS. When Hiroyuki and Shugo Takahashi of Camelot were asked about any future plans for the series, they responded:

“We want to play that game too, just as much as you. We love Golden Sun! We are working on a lot of different things - a lot of different design documents and so on, including some different RPG ideas. Don’t worry, we’re thinking about RPG stuff! We’ve got all these ideas, many many different things we’re thinking about - but of course, we still have just one team, so we’ll see what happens.”

The original game received exceptional reviews and praise from critics, as well as selling many copies. A new entry in the series would definitely satisfy the hunger for new RPGs on the Nintendo DS.

New Too Human Video

February 21st, 2008 by Erich Jurgens in News, Video, Xbox360

It’s been a while since we’ve had any substantial news of Silicon Knights’ upcoming title Too Human. Rest assured though, if this video is any indication, Silicon Knights has everything under control. The video below is a lengthy demonstration of the game’s two different style of play: action and RPG, and how seamlessly they’ve been integrated together. Then the team goes into a brief discussion of the gameplay differences between playing Human or playing Cyber, as well as armor types, and how the team approached balancing the risk of dying. Also, I have to commend the work that the development team has done switching engines. The game looks really good and, from what the video shows, there’s no detriment to the frame rate. Hey Bioware, are you taking notes?
