Saw for PC is Steam exclusive

The game based on the seemingly never-ending horror franchise Saw was released earlier this month on the Xbox 360 and PS3 to mixed reviews, and publisher Konami has revealed that it plans to only offer the PC port of the game on Steam — no retail sales here. It’s not the first time Konami has avoided the retail space; last year, Silent Hill: Homecoming was released on consoles, while the PC version was a Steam exclusive.

First Saw teaser trailer points to Konami Gamer’s Night
We just recently learned that a game based on the Saw series was actually in the works and slated for a Fall release. Shortly after that announcement Zombie Studios released the first teaser trailer featuring the game.
You will recognize Jigsaw in the teaser if you watched any of the Saw movies with his mockingly quiet voice and uncanny knack for playing games that involves potentially killing someone. The teaser does a good job showcasing the game’s graphics and gives a general lowdown on what you can expect in terms of gameplay.
However, Jigsaw finishes off the trailer inviting you to “join him at Konami’s Gamer’s Night” which goes down April 9th.
Saw Game Alive, Coming Out This Fall
Remember the almost-cancelled Saw video game? That game now lives on, courtesy of Konami, who has signed the project and plans to release it this fall.
Developed by Zombie Studios, the game is now set for release alongside the theatrical release of Saw VI. Gameplay will revolve around players finding themselves in an asylum filled with devious traps by series antagonist Jigsaw. It is up to the players to solve puzzles and save folks, or leave them to the tortuous devices.
The fate of the game had become murky last year after former publisher Brash imploded. But now the game is safe and sound at Konami. It will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Saw Game Almost Done
The recent closure of Brash Entertainment saw many licensed game adaptations become orphans, and today horror centric site Bloody Disgusting reports that a game based on the Saw franchise was almost “nearing completion” with voice over work done.
The Unreal Engine 3-powered game was unveiled nearly a year ago, with Zombie Studios reportedly working on it. It was being aimed for release in October 2009, which I believe will be the time we see the sixth film installment.
Brash’s closure has hit many other projects, including games based on Prison Break, Six Flags Fun Park, 300 and a new Superman game from Factor 5.
