Beta signups for Star Wars: The Old Republic begin

LucasArts has today begun accepting applications for their latest MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, just because they are accepting applications doesn’t mean you will be guaranteed admission.
Only after you fill out some standard information and upload a DxDiag file will LucasArts consider letting you into the beta. However, the developer has said that those who sign up earlier will have a better chance at getting accepted into the beta so if you want in, you better get on it.
Head here to sign up.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has made its way onto Steam today, retailing for $9.99. The 2003 RPG was originally released on the Xbox, followed by a retail PC release not too much later.
The game is considered as one of the best Star Wars games out to date, and it’s a nice addition to the Steam library.
The third entry into the series, Star Wars: The Old Republic, is currently under development by BioWare, and will be out on PCs sometime in the future. Keep an eye out for more news updates on the official website.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes launch trailer
The television series game tie-in, Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes has a new launch trailer, straight from last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con. I’ve only watched the Clone Wars cartoon once, and I didn’t exactly fall in love with the show, but I know there are fans who will enjoy this game.
LucasArts will be releasing the game onto shelves on October 6th, as opposed to a September 15th release announced back in May. The game will be published on every current generation console, including the PC and PS2.
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadrons revealed
LucasArts’ portable Star Wars Battlefront game has been revealed by ESRB ratings, and will be released this Fall on DS and PSP.
This “leak” forced LucasArts to officially announce the game, confirming its Fall 2009 release date. The game is developed by Rebellion Software, the original developers of Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron for the PSP.
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Footage
Leaked game play footage of Star Wars: Battlefront III has surfaced. The footage was supposedly taken in November internal alpha meeting with the game’s former developer, Free Radical, in November. The quality is not exactly crystal clear, but this is one hell of a treat for fans who have been waiting for a sequel since 2005.
Battlefront III is rumored to be currently in development by Rebellion Developments for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PC, and DS.

Star Wars Galaxies Emulation Project Will be Played in Q1 2009

In case you are a Star Wars hardcore fan you are probably anxious to see Star Wars Galaxies Emulation Project in action. Well we have some great news for you all, this Star Wars game will be launched for a test drive soon. A test server is going to be setup and launched sometime in the first quarter of the next year.
I say that’s quite a Christmas present from the team behind the whole concept. Here’s what the company said:
Our #1 commitment is releasing a fully functional, identical SWG (with bug fixes) emulator. This “vanilla” release will be maintained by SWGEmu for the foreseeable future. That said, the majority, if not all, of the SWGEmu developers are excited to take pre-cu and fulfill the potential that SOE never got around to doing.
Now all that’s left to do is wait to play it. See you inside when the server will be actually launched.
Star Wars Wii Mod Anyone?

What’s the color of your Wii? White right? Would you like it to be anything else? How about a custom Star Wars Wii mod? Would that help you perform better in games?
The Wii above is available on eBay and it has a whooping $500 starting price. It also comes with a red LED Wiimote and nunchuck and a copy of Star Wars. Now I love Star Wars about as much as any other guy. But it’s not essential for me to own a Wii mot with Star Wars all over it.
Star Wars Galaxies Support To Remain
It appears that the Star Wars Galaxies team is prepared to continue putting time and effort into their game
despite the recent announcement of the Bioware Star Wars MMO. Now, it’s not as though they didn’t have plenty of time to think about a strategy to keep their game alive even with the competition. LucasArts executive Tim Nicholas stated that they think the games can coexists, and that certain mistakes made in Star Wars Galaxies will be avoided in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
“We have many other features planned to support Star Wars Galaxies. We see no reason why the two games can’t exist together.
We’ve learned how important it is to listen to your community and act on that feedback. We also realized what players expect from an online Star Wars game – they expect to be that iconic Star Wars hero as soon as possible. They don’t want to play for hundreds of hours just to become a Jedi.”
Now, just because the games can exists together doesn’t mean they will. I expect Star Wars Galaxies will come to a quick end after the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Star Wars, Warhammer Online May Come to Consoles
Although BioWare only announced Star Wars The Old Republic for PC, studio owner EA has revealed that console releases of Warhammer Online and the aforementioned game are being considered.
"We’re definitely looking at the opportunity to bring the MMO experience to console, without question," said EA Games president Frank Gibeau.
"[Star Wars: The Old Republic and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning are] under consideration," he continued, though he noted that the company is not in any position to announce anything.
Warhammer Online did pretty well, raking in quite a few subscribers since release. No release date was given for the Star Wars MMO.
BioWare MMO Teaser Image: “The Wait is Over”
Following word that BioWare and LucasArts are holding an event to announce a new project on October 21, the invitation card for it has shown up online, not leaving much to the imagination.
The card reads: “The wait is over… BioWare and LucasArts invite you to attend the official unveiling of the game that’s been rumored about for years.”
So, there you have it. Just a few more days. Can the internet fanboys stay silent for that long? Let the speculation begin.
BioWare Unveiling KOTOR MMO October 21
Following rumors that BioWare will unveil its new Knights of the Republic MMO this month, both BioWare and LucasArts have announced that they will hold an event to reveal a new project on October 21.
The event, to take place at LucasArts offices in San Francisco, promises to be host to “the official unveiling of the game that’s been rumored about for years,” taking an obvious stab at the long-running KOTOR MMO.
BioWare is known best for developing the first Star Wars: KOTOR title on PC and Xbox; it is currently working on completing Fallout 3 and Dragon Age.
Canadian Gamestop Offering Full Buyback Gaurentee for The Force Unleashed

Apparently, Gamestops across Canada are so confident that you will love Starwars: The Force Unleashed that they will offer to buy the game back from you in whole within 7 days of purchase if you decide you no longer want to keep it.
A pretty tantalizing offer considering the game retails what you would expect to pay on the various consoles, but you Canadians better act fast because the offer only stand for those who pre-purchase the game.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is currently under development by LucasArts for the PS3 and Xbox 360, Krome Studios for the Wii, PS2, and PSP, n-Space for the DS, and Universomo for the N-Gage. It is expected to hit store shelves in North America on September 16th.
