Super Street Fighter IV to feature car smashing bonus level

One of the most disappointing things I encountered with Street Fighter IV was the fact that it didn’t feature the beloved car smashing bonus level. Well, with the announcement of Super Street Fighter IV gamers yet again had some car bashing fun to look foward to, if the game was to include it, that is.
Today we have confirmation that the bonus level will infact be included in the new title with the above screen shot showing it off.
Super Street Fighter IV will be out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 23rd, 2010.

Microsoft is proud to announce that 3 of their console’s greatest titles are going to get the Platinum Hits treatment, and I’m sure you’d agree with their decision.
Those titles in question are none other than Street Fighter IV, Left 4 Dead and Grand Theft Auto IV in addition to Saints Row 2 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
With the Platinum Hits comes lowered prices with Joystiq reporting they will be lowered to right around $29.99.

Super Street Fighter IV teaser trailer
Yesterday Capcom officially announced Super Street Fighter IV, a retake on the popular fighter Street Fighter IV with additional characters, and today they have released the first trailer for the game.
Unfortunately, the trailer is just a teaser and doesn’t feature any new game play or mention of the 8 new characters. However, it does feature Ken and Ryu kicking the crap out of each other in a cinematic styled similar to the one found at the beginning of Street Fighter IV.
Want more info? You’re going to have to wait until Super Street Fighter IV’s spring 2010 release date draws closer.
Street Fighter IV getting a new character on Sept. 29th?

Capcom has today launched an all new Street Fighter IV teaser website that shows off the fact that they will be introducing a “new warrior” to the game on Tuesday, September 29th at 5PM in Japan.
Of course, as of right now we have nothing more than whats featured on the teaser website which is just a small video including the screenshot shown above. We’re going to assume that this “new warrior” is an all new Street Fighter character to be offered through Xbox Live, the PSN and through Capcom’s official website for the PC.
We’ll keep you posted as more information is made known.

Street Fighter IV $20 at GameStop, EBGames

Having only being released in February, it’s surprising to see Street Fighter IV being marked down to a low $19.99, brand spankin’ new. Heck, even the used versions of the game are selling for higher than that.
If you can’t find the time to leave the house to run over to GameStop, you can order online via EBGames for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, the PC version still retails for $39.99, but you might get a deal if you walk up to the store in-person. The deal is only valid through August 2nd, so now is definitely the time to grab this fighter.
A few other older titles are also on sale, including F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and Silent Hill Homecoming.
EVO 2009 wraps up, Daigo wins Street Fighter IV

EVO 2009 wrapped up yesterday, deeming Japanese player Daigo “The Beast” Umehara the victor of the Street Fighter IV finals. Of course, the other games of the event are not to be forgotten, but the main attraction of the evening was definitely Capcom’s newest fighting game. Here’s a list of the top eight competitors for the SF4 bracket:
- Daigo Umehara (Ryu)
- Justin Wong (Boxer, Abel, Rufus)
- Ed Ma (Akuma)
- Sanford (Akuma, Cammy)
- Long Tran (Akuma)
- Eduardo Perez (Boxer, E-Honda)
- Dan (from Japan) (Ryu)
- Ricky Ortiz (Rufus)
I caught a few minutes of the Marvel vs Capcom 2 semi-finals as well, and was very disappointed to find out that I’m not as good at the game as I thought I was.
Anyways, a new documentary titled King of Chinatown is also being released, focusing on runner-up Justin Wong’s road to this year’s EVO. However, the trailer makes the assumption that he is, in fact, the best Street Fighter IV player even though it was made official at EVO that he is not. Regardless, the documentary still looks very interesting.

Exclusive SF4 controllers coming to Comic-Con ‘09

MadCatz and Capcom have recently detailed their intentions to bring a limited number of exclusive Street Fight IV controller to this year’s Comic-Con.
Mad Catz Art Director, Roentgen D. Reyes, commented on the hardware’s artwork:
“When we set out creating the Limited Edition artwork we knew that we had to create an impactful design that was radically different from the previous imagery and color schemes. With that in mind we chose not to concentrate on a group of characters but instead produce something targeted to the fan community. After working through a number of designs, we focused on one of the strongest ‘fan-favorite’ characters in the game, Sagat. The character is renowned for his large scar which game legend tells us was caused by archrival Ryu. In my mind, playing Street Fighter® IV evokes the player’s competitive nature, with rivalry a key element of the experience.”
The exclusive Tournament Edition arcade sticks will go on sale for Comic-Con attendees for $179.99 while the exclusive SF4 controller, pictured after the break, will go on sale at the convention along with on the Mad Catz website for $49.99.

Street Fighter IV PC mod allows for charcter move-set swaps
Have you ever wondered what it would look like Balrog utilized his legs instead of just his fits in Capcom’s Street Fighter IV? Well look no further as it seems that a PC modder has discovered a way to completely swap characters move-sets with one another allowing Balrog to utilize Chun-li’s moves, Rufus to utilize El Fuertes and more.
Sure, there’s probably no practical use for this mod but it’s still fun to watch Balrog dance around like a fairy, don’t you think?

Capcom: Seth and Sagat “stronger than we expected”

Ever since fighting games hit the scene players have been crying about overpowered characters, so when Street Fighter IV hit, it was no exception. The two characters who have been under speculation the most are Seth and Sagat, arguably two of the strongest characters in the game, according to some at least.
Well, it seems that everyone was correct, Seth and Sagat are in fact overpowered. Below is a quote from Capcom’s Ryota Mistuma confirming the fact:
“Yes, Seth and perhaps Sagat might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected.”
He then went on to say:
“A good player of another character can always beat a good Sagat player or a good Seth player. I don’t think it’s too out of proportion, but we do acknowledge that they turned out a bit more powerful than we expected.”
So there you have it, Capcom knows Seth and Sagat are two very powerful Street Fighter IV characters. Now get over it an start training as the advantage is only slight!

Tekken 6 director happy with Street Fighter IV’s success

Tekken and Street Fighter could arguably be considered two of the most successful fighting game franchises of all time so it would make sense for the two developing companies to hate eachother, right? Wrong, Tekken’s series director Katsuhiro Harada recently told VideoGamer the exact opposite:
“I’ve been a fan of Street Fighter in general, and I was kind of sad to see it die out in the arcades. So I was very happy to see it make a comeback – especially with that new look it returned with while staying true to the original formula. I believe a lot of fans were very happy with that.”
Not only is he the director of the highly anticipated Tekken 6, but he’s also a fan of Street Fighter? It’s nice to see two competing developers live in harmony.
Namco Bandai’s Tekken 6 is due out for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 27th of this year.

For those who dont’ know the PC version of SF4 is set to include full Games for Windows Live support along with slightly improved graphics over its console counterparts.

A partnership with SOTA toys and God of War III character designer Katon Callaway brings us the above masterpiece, a 12″ Akuma statue. For those who don’t know, Akuma is a popular Street Figher character with his most recent appearance being in Street Fighter 4.
This statue will apparantly be out sometime this September for $120 with statues of Cammy, M. Bison and Guile following suit shortly after. What, no Ryu?

New KOFXII trailer shows gameplay, epicness
As The King of Fighters XII’s July release date looms just around the corner, SNK Playmore have decided it is a prefect time to release a new trailer for the game.
The above trailer is entitled Triumph of Combat and features gameplay that fans of the KoF series are sure to love. One of the things I loved about the trailer, however, is the zooming out from the sprites putting an emphasis on the 2D nature of this game.
SNK put a lot of effort into this game and from the looks of it, it is shaping up to be a masterpiece. Did we mention that the entire thing was hand drawn?
Street Fighter 4, KoF 12 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 all in 2009? What a year for fighting games!
