April 23rd, 2010 Posted in Wii by Jeff Baker

With all of the Super Mario Galaxy 2 media dropping left and right, it’s pretty evident that the game is shaping up to be one of the best Mario titles as of late. Today, we have a new, brief video for you (included above) that shows off the classic side-scrolling action that is the be included with the game.

I’m guilty of buying a Wii and pretty much never playing it again after I finished Zelda and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, I think Super Mario Galaxy 2 may give me reason to blow dust off the Wii and pick it up on May 23rd, 2010.

No hub world in Super Mario Galaxy 2

March 22nd, 2010 Posted in Action, Adventure, Wii by Jeff Baker

It seems that Nintendo is staying true to their roots with Super Mario Galaxy 2 as it was recently announced that the game will not feature a hub world, like the original Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64, but instead it will feature a world map. If you’ve been with the Mario franchise for a while (and who hasn’t?) you’ll recognize the world map from classic games like Super Mario Bros. 3 and newer titles like New Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be out for the Wii on May 23rd of this year.

Considering Sonic made an appearance in Super Smash Bros: Brawl it only makes sense that Nintendo would considering their close alliance with SEGA and bring the lovable blue hedgehog to more of their titles. Now, a rumor has been circulating that suggests Sonic will appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

The rumor comes from NGamer magazine who says a source close to Nintendo gave them the information. Is it to be believed? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 to have a “veteran” appeal

July 11th, 2009 Posted in Action, Nintendo, Wii by Gibran Nawaz

Nintendo has been under fire ever since the introduction of the Wii, potentially sacrificing their hardcore gamer audience for a broader, casual audience. Even Mario games have become more simpler to finish than older installments of the franchise. Speaking to Nintendo Power magazine, Shigeru Miyamoto had this to say about the “veteran” appeal of the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy 2:

“I do believe that there is a lot here to appeal to the more veteran and more experienced gamers, and I think it’s a title that they will obviously enjoy, but I really took it into consideration and tried to do our best to create a game that’s accessible to new gamers as well,” Miyamoto explained. “And, you know, we also built it with consideration that we believe that people who played through the first Mario Galaxy have become better players.”

It’s not always about the difficulty of the game, it’s more of an expectation that the developer has for the gamer. If the developers decide that because their audience might not understand some of the concepts presented in the game, then those concepts could be greatly altered and change the overall experience and richness of the game. Miyamoto usually never lets us down and always delivers us fun games, so we can only hope that he is trying his best.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be out sometime next year for the Wii.
