World at War Map Pack 3 coming next month

Treyarch only released the second map pack for Call of Duty: World at War last month and already they are gearing up to launch the game’s third installment.
Appropriately entitled Map Pack 3, this pack will include three multiplayer maps and an additional Nazi Zombie map. Pictured above is Revolution, one map to be included in said pack, with pictures of the other two maps, Breach and Battery, included after the break. Unfortunately, Treyarch released no screen shots of the new Nazi Zombie map, Der Riese.
With the success of World at War’s previous 2 map packs it’s no wonder that Treyarch would continue to release similar content. I mean, the game is published by Activision, remember?

New Nazi Zombie map? Count me in!
8 Minute video featuring World at War’s Map Pack 2
Call of Duty: World at War’s first map pack was nothing short of a huge success. So, it’s no surprise that Treyarch would produce a second map pack which is featured in the above video.
The video runs 8:34 and features the two maps Corrosion and Sub Pens being added to the pack. If you didn’t know, there’s also a new Nazi Zombie map entitled Shi No Numa being introduced.
I just wish the trailer showed said Nazi Zombie map, I mean it is my favorite feature in WaW. Futhermore, if you don’t have Call of Duty: World at War, now is the perfect time because Steam is offering the game for just $25.

Call of Duty 7 in production

If there’s one franchise Activision plans to milk to the very last drop, it’s Call of Duty. Which is of no surprise that a seventh game is reportedly in development, according to the LinkedIn profile of developer Treyarch’s senior animator David Kim, which says “I am currently on my second title as a senior animator in the games industry with Activision / Treyarch on Call Of Duty 7″.
There you go. Expect Call of Duty 7 (with a subtitle, of course), some time in 2010 (as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is technically the sixth game in the series).
CoD: World at War DLC pack sells over 2 million

Treyarch is excited to announce that their first map pack for Call of Duty: World at War has managed to sell more than 2 million copies downloads since its March release:
“This is a huge milestone and we are so appreciative of our incredibly supportive community who continue to play and enjoy the game,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. “We’re hard at work on Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 and look forward to delivering that in June.”
Sure it’s a good game and all but everyone who’s anyone loves the Nazi zombie feature that Treyarch introduced to the Call of Duty series. And, considering the forthcoming Map Pack 2 is going to include a new Nazi zombie map, it’s probably safe to say it will sell as good if not better than Map Pack 1.

Rumor: Call of Duty Branching Out to Vietnam
They seem to be branching out to new locations, as That Videogame Blog, citing a confidential source, says Activision is pursuing licenses for Vietnam War-era music, as well as Cuban, Soviet Union and African music. The site also notes that Treyarch will be the developer for this supposed seventh installment in the Call of Duty series.
Noah Heller is said to be involved in the project; it should be noted that he was the senior producer on World at War, which basically confirms the participation of Treyarch. It isn’t exactly known why they are pursuing music from those eras. Vietnam War I get, but Cuban and African music? I’m guessing secret ops or covert operations.
The next game – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – is due out this fall on the usual platforms.
Activision has high hopes for Modern Warfare 2

There’s no questioning the fact that both Call of Duty 4 and its succesor Call of Duty: World at War were huge successess.
Well, Activision isn’t pleased with these results and is looking to make even more of a killing with their forthcoming Modern Warfare 2.
In a recent conversation held with MCV, Activision brand manager Simon Wells was quoted to say the following:
“We want to propel this year’s title to be the biggest selling video game of all time. That may raise some eyebrows, but step back and look at the franchise’s trajectory through preceding launches, and this objective starts to look viable.”
So yes, expect the sort of promotion that was done with Halo 3 to return for Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty branded Mountain Dew Game Fuel anyone?
World at War DLC Breaks 1M in 1 Week
Activision announced that Treyarch’s first downloadable map pack for Call of Duty: World at War sold over one million downloads during its first week on PlayStation Store and Xbox Live.
The DLC was released on March 19 for $10. It offers played four new multiplayer maps, including one for the Nazi Zombies mode. It is also due out on PC, though release details are yet to be revealed.
Interestingly, it did better than the DLC for Call of Duty 4, which took nine days to break the million mark.

New Call of Duty: World at War “Verrückt” trailer

A new trailer showcasing the new “Verrückt” Nazi Zombie map for Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War has hit the internet today.
Featuring in the video is a general low down of the map along with an important feature; perks in the form of cola’s. You’ll be able to drink cola found in various machines that give you powerups like the ability to shoot faster and the ability to quickly revive a downed teammate.
Sounds cool, but how will it stack up against the much loved original zombie map?

Featured in the demo is the campaign mission “Hard Landing, which players will be able to venture through in both single player and online co-op with up to 4 players.
The game has been out a while but this is definitly good for those looking to play it before they buy it and haven’t had an opportunity until now.
Call of Duty: WaW map-pack to hit March

Activision has recently updated the official Call of Duty: World at War site with news of a new map pack set to hit this March. Included in the pack are 4 all new levels, one of which is a zombie level that we heard of earlier today.
The four maps will be entitled: Nightfire, Station, Knee deep, and Verrückt (which is the zombie map). Upon reading the following description, taken from the game’s official website, Perks-a-cola really caught my eye; A perk vending machine of sorts? Fine in my book given a zombie infestation!
More on the levels below:
Nightfire
In “Nightfire,” players take to the streets of a war-ravaged Berlin with only the flames of the burning city to expose the enemy.
Station
“Station” offers a bombed out underground train station littered with hidden passageways and destroyed subway cars.
Knee Deep
“Knee Deep” takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center.
Verrückt (Zombie Asylum)
The fan favorite 4-player co-op Nazi Zombies Bonus Mode returns with “Verrückt,” a terrifying Zombie asylum featuring more weapons, perks via the addition of Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and the endless zombie horde.
Unfortunately there are no date specifics or hints to how much the pack will cost, bummer.
